Monk 1/23/04

Very good episode.

The parts with Stottlemeyer were really funny tonight.

The highlight of the episode for me was when Monk ran into the burning house and still stopped to straighten the books again

I hope Turturro comes back again.

One of the best shows on tv. The book straightening was classic Monk.

I read last week's episode managed 6 million viewers, which is the highest ever for USA. Glad to see it because this show is great.

John Turturro was inSPIRED casting.

I could totally see those two being brothers.

Great episode.

They need to get Turturro for a guest spot every season. He was great and his character was great.

The premise of this episode was right out of Fritz Lang's Ministry of Fear - considering that the protagonist there has just left a mental hospital the lift was appropos.

Like last week, this episode was great in using minor characters well and it turned the formual against itself, as Disher says 'Usually Monk explains it and its over' (I'm probably misquoting there.)

Good luck to the show in the Golden Globes tomorrow.

I read that Turturro doesn't do TV and the only reason he did it was as a favour to Tony...

Thank god for favours. This episode was great.

A truly great episode, it really pulled on the old heart strings. And it helped fill in another piece (albeit a small one) to the mystery surrounding Trudy's death.

Liked the episode, but didn't love it. I didn't particularly enjoy Tuturro either. To each his own I guess.

I'm not a big Turturro fan, but he was very good and it was inspired casting. Such a great show. I don't think it'll ever happen, but I sure hope they don't start a romantic relationship between Monk and Sharona.

It won't happen. They've been playing up a possible romance between Sharona and Disher.

I know, but down the road (hopefully many years from now) when ratings start slipping and people start panicking and they resort to whatever it takes to get ratings up. Seems like it happens often.

Am I needlessly worrying about something that might never happen? Absolutely. I just don't want anyone to wreck the show.

****

I want to see Monk get a nemesis. Someone like Major Descoine on Remington Steele. I'm not sure who I would cast as a worthy adversary for Monk.

He does. His name is obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I vote for Alf. It would be interesting to see how Alf's alien nature sets of Monk's mental probelms.
