Enterprise 01/14/04

Well, here we are again after a very long break

Episode Title: "Chosen Realm"

A group of religious zealots hijack Enterprise intending to use it against the enemies of their faith.
Written By: Manny Coto
Directed By: Roxann Dawson

Here's something that made me laugh:
Berman noted that he was very happy with the writing staff, which now includes Manny Coto and Chris Black, stating that he and Brannon Braga are pleased to have "a team that we can work with, as opposed to have to write [most of the episodes] ourselves."

Finally we get a new episode! I was beginning to think they pulled the plug.....well, that's still a possibility if its ratings don't improve.

They sorta did: the network has cut the number of requested episodes for the season by 2.

I’m toying with the idea of joining Bando in not watching. The long break has given me time to purge the toxins from my system.

The only thing is, I’m gonna miss coming in here for the beer and bitch session.

I suppose I could pull up some of my old posts. I’m sure they would still work.

I see Enterprise as the new MST3K. It's bad but I'd miss these threads. Cheers!

I guess only Kirk's time considers intra-ship beaming to be hazardous?

I was only slightly enjoying the episode until the point where they landed on Cheron.....I mean Triannon. I was expecting Frank Gorshin to show up somewhere.

More and more I understand this show is only meant for Trek-newcomers. They don't even bother to change the endings of the previous Trek stories they steal.

Not bad, not good. Sort of ho-hum. I think the episode summary for the next episode looks interesting.

I thought the episode was pretty good. I liked how the alien pointed out the fact that Archer tortured someone.

Beaming inside a moving object racing through space can't be safe...unless there's someone locking on to the transporter beam at the other end (i.e. another transporter pad), you'd think they'd beam the person out into space or into a bulkhead or something...

But these Enterprise guys have never been on the ball with their writing...that's why QVC gets higher ratings than a new episode of Enterprise.

As opposed to planets racing through space?

I liked the backdrop of Hiroshima 1945 that they used when they landed on the destroyed planet.

If Bando watches it, that means I'll have to.

I thought it was really stupid the way they fooled that guy into thinking they had killed Archer.

This guy is reading their computer database and the Captain's Log and he didn't stumble over something on transporters?

Given the complete history of the series, you have to actually use the transporter for it to show up in a database or Log.

Enterprise writers are too busy rewriting old scripts to worry about continuity.

What's next now that " Let That Be Your Last Battlefield " has been re-done?

How 'bout "I Mudd." Perfect for sweeps. This would be an excuse to have a bunch of homely broads with big tits prance about in skimpier-than-N'Pol's suits.

It certainly couldn't hurt the show at this point.

My biggest complaint with the episode was how powerless T'Pol was against those guys on the bridge. I guess Vulcans get their greater than human strength sometime between the events of this episode and Kirk's time.
