FX Sets Return Dates For 'Shield,' 'Nip/Tuck' (Friday, January 09 01:39 PM) LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Two of the jewels in FX's drama development crown have set premiere dates for their upcoming new episodes. The cable network has scheduled the Emmy and Gold Globe winning drama "The Shield" for a mid-spring launch, while Golden Globe nominee "Nip/Tuck" will be back in the early summer. The 2003 Golden Globe winner for best drama, "The Shield" began production on its third season in September 2003 and the first of 15 new episodes will air on Tuesday, March 9 at 10 p.m. ET. Most of the creative team and cast are returning for the new season, which features two more episodes than either of the previous years. "Seven episodes from the upcoming season are complete and, from what we've seen so far, fans of 'The Shield' have a lot to look forward to come March," says Peter Liguori, FX's president and chief executive officer. "As usual, Shawn Ryan and his writing team have put together compelling storylines and Michael Chiklis, CCH Pounder and the entire cast once again are delivering great performances." Other returning stars include Benito Martinez, Walton Goggins, Jay Karnes, Catherine Dent, Michael Jace and Kenneth Johnson. When "The Shield" completes its run, FX will be ready to bring back the controversial and acclaimed "Nip/Tuck," which is nominated for the outstanding drama series Golden Globe. After a 13-episode first season, the dramedy will be bumped up to 16 in its second year. The fun will begin on Tuesday, June 22 at 10 p.m. ET. In addition to the Golden Globe nod for the series, Joely Richardson picked up a nomination for best actress in a drama series. Richardson and stars Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon will return to what was basic cable's most-watched new series of 2003. They still have all the S2 repeats to show, so I wonder how they will squeeze them in on time. I hope I'll be able to catch them all as I am playing catch-up. I certainly hope they do encore showings because Tuesday at 10 is not a good timeslot for me. |

No kidding, I didn't think all of Season 1 of The Shield had been shown yet (that's the only way I've been catching up with this show, too cheap to buy the DVD sets), so I hope they do show Season 2, even in a marathon session, else, I'm gonna be irked.

Just like before, the week prior to the premiere of Season 3 they will run Season 2 (2 episodes per night).
Staggered premieres because they have one another's time slots. And to those that might be "irked", buy the damn sets. Hell rent them at BB, HWV, or even Netflix. |

I actually bought season 2, but have not purchased season 1. I figured I would finish watching it on tv, then just go straight to the boxset.

I have the Comcast Digital Gold Package (not even the highest) - it is $87/month here (Northern VA). Believe me, I know all about the dishes - I am directionally challenged in that dept. |

I believe that once we get down to six episodes, they will show an episode a night leading up to the season 3 primiere. hold up, red dog, since you watched it "last night", thursday, you tivo'ed it right? or did they move it to thursdays as well.

Watched all of season 2. The first half of season 2 is remarkably tense, and there is one in scene in particular that is particularly disturbing that I won't spoil. Whenever I think of that scene it actually bothers me. I am interested in where they will go in season 3. I can't wait for this to start. Thank god for this forum, Tivo, and tv on DVD or I would have missed out on so many great shows.

I'm kinda glad Nip/Tuck is starting up again in June. Gives me something to watch during the dry summer months. It was my favorite show of last year next to 24. I do hope they lose the transgender character for the new season though. An episode was fine but when he/she started reappearing it became kind of a drag. :D

Just an FYI, but F/X will be running off the remaining 5-6 episodes of Season 2, one a night, starting next week. Times seemed to be vary, but usually 10 PM CST.
