DS9: Trials and Tribbleations question
Why did they make Dax get rid of her spots before going aboard the Enterprise? From the dialogue, I clearly understood Trills were a race that were around in that time period, and obviously known. Would it have raised suspicions if they saw another Trill on the Enterprise with her spots? I don't see how that would matter.

From: wishing I was in Vegas
I'd hit it.
With or without the spots.
[geek alert] Hey, here’s a thought. So, they take away the spots. Well, after the mission is over, don’t they have to put the spots back? I mean, they don’t just grow back by themselves, do they? So, they have to put them back. So, when they put them back, don’t they, like, have to know exactly where they were before? I mean, what’s the point if you put them just anywhere? I mean, wouldn’t that be more like a tatoo? [/geek alert]

An obvious alien, such as a Trill, would likely have stood out aboard the original Enterprise. So you'd probably want to "human" her up.
Of course, at that time didn't the Trills have bumpy foreheads? I remember the Trills we saw on TNG that did. They must've grown spots and lost the bumps in the two years between "The Host" and "Encounter at Farpoint."

I think the Klingons stole the Trills bumpy foreheads.
