man, this was by far the best episode of this season.

Jimmy talking to Wendy damn near had me in tears.

lordzeppelin 12-11-03 09:28 PM

"wendy, you're a bitch, and Token - right here buddy" (flips him off) LMAO

DRG 12-11-03 10:23 PM

Great episode, had me laughing throughout. They seemed to cover more ground this ep, instead of the usual focus on a big topic.

Totally. Although it did have too much of that 'blatant message' vibe that I absolutely hate about the topical episodes dealing with some current hot media topic.

Anyhoo, fantastic episode. The goth stuff was great. I was crackin up every time that goth kid jerked his head back to get the hair out of his face.

And "raisins".... That's wrong.

Raisins is right up there with NAMBLA, Mr. Garison's Sex Ed and Mr. Slave for the most wrong thing the boys have done, and it was brilliant.

Finally caught the rerun tonite, but I was flipping between it and the MASH episode where Blake & Trapper leave, and Hunnycutt arrives. I've seen it a million times, but I guess that's the power of a good show.

Anyways, the goth kids are dead on, as is Butters telling them off.

"And Token: right here buddy. "

I'm surprised they don't have to pixellate the flipper. Didn't they reframe The Matrix so as not to show Neo's on TV?

As soon as he held up the boombox, my wife said "It's going to play 'Shock the Monkey.'"

Hilarious ep. I can't believe they got away with Jimmy's stutter...

Yeah, I'm suprised they got away with that too.

Awesome episode. This season's shaping out to be very excellent.

 That's exactly what I said to my husband. We laughed even harder when I was right.

I found the Rasins thing creepy.... deliciously creepy.

A really funny episode all round.

I think this show has been going downhill for a couple of years now.

Every season there are a couple of really good episodes and that's about it.

"Raisins" was one of them.

Hilarious!

There are occassionally hidden meanings in some South Park episodes, like a t-shirt that says 'DVDA.' I'm not sure I want to guess what 'Raisins' could allude to.

We'll explain it to you when you're older. [pats Neeb on head]

I'm surprised everybody liked this one so much. I enjoyed it, but so many of the jokes seemed so simplistic to me.

Goths are such an easy target. Seriously, how can you talk about goths without making fun of them? Hooters is also an obvious target, but they didn't even go over the top with it like they normally do imo.

The Peter Gabriel thing was so obvious and seemed even less funny considering that song seems a little more in line with what they were actually playing while filming that scene, Fishbone.

The only part of the show I remember thinking was hilarious was Jimmy's cu** line. I guess you could say that that's an obvious joke too, but the fact that I didn't see it made it even funnier to me. I also really liked the cheesy 80s music in the beginning.

One more thing, why did people like that Stan gave Token the finger so much? I didn't really find that funny at all.

Cusm 12-15-03 09:02 AM

What was on Stan's Goth shirt? I could not make it out.

I thought it was a picture of Edgar Allen Poe and the word "Nevermore." It made sense because they were calling him Raven.

You're right, it was.

I thought that Stan calling Wendy a bitch and flipping off Token was great because most shows, even "South Park," would do a nice "I've learned something today" moment about being happy that your ex found someone new.

But nope, we get: "Right here, buddy."

Yeah, I don't know why I said I didn't think it was funny at all. I guess I did think it was funny, just not lol funny.

I guess I made my comments because that episode felt very unlike South Park to me. Contrary to most people's opinions, I consider South Park to be one of the most intelligent satires I've ever seen and this episode seemed very low-brow. The middle finger at the end just seemed to be the final nail in the coffin.

Just for clarification, the actual middle finger didn't bother me. It was more the fact that they couldn't think of anything clever to do at the end, so they chose the easiest way to end it imo.

great episode!
