Alias 11/23/03

Biggie spoilers here just in episode discription.
Spoiler:
Syd lands in NSC custody for killing Sark's dad, but it's the memory-extracting surgery they have lined up for her that could be the real killer. But as Vaughn and Jack hit up Sloane to rescue her, loyalty has Lauren is torn between thwarting them or supporting them. Brill: Richard Roundtree. Sark: David Anders. Campbell: Pruitt Taylor Vince. Lauren: Melissa George.

The main reason why I put this thread up early is to remind the otters in the DC area that its not playing tonight at 9pm due to the Deadskins (sorry, not a fan) game on WLJA channel 7. The show will air tonight at 2:05 am there.

I didn't realize that Alias aired on ESPN as that is what the skins are on this week. Or do they also air this on your ABC affiliate?

What did Jack say to Vaughn after they entered the storage shed and Vaughn said, "The fact that you're even letting me see this place...". What was Jack's response? I didn't catch it. Thanks...

Vaughn: "The fact that you're letting me see this place means it's not your only one. Is it?"

Jack: "You're smarter than you look."

Well, I don't remember, but I think V. also went on to say... "You must have more of these storages." Jack says "You're smarter than you look."

What a great episode - I don't think any of us were expecting Lauren to help out. I also was pretty surprised to see Sloane in the action too.

maybe they will all form their own little organization and just go covert. anyway, i thought this was a really good episode. the look that jack gave lyndsey at the beginning was great. you know that one day, jack is just gonna give lyndsey the big beatdown.

They air the normal ESPN sunday game on ABC when the Redskins are playing. Of course, I get both Baltimore and Washington ABC stations, so no biggie for me.

Very good episode.

They redeemed Lauren somewhat this week by her actions which they had to do to keep Vaughn and her together.

Hopefully Jack gives Lindsay the Haladki treatment soon.

Next week looks like another good episode.

Thanks mverleg1 and Ranger - 'preciate it. Jack and Vaughn have definitely had some good back and forth dialogue lately.

The best part of the ep for me, besides Jack and Sloane working together w/ Vaughn in tow and Sydney's attempted escape, was definitely Jack's stare-down of Lindsey at the beginning. Victor Garber is doing a helluva good job this season and I am really starting to appreciate his character more.

Nice of Lauren, and her messed-up mouth, to finally see the light. Welcome to the rogue-agent club. Now how are they going to explain this one? and they need to get Dixon involved in some field-work and soon.

to the Richard Roundtree guest spot.

And next week looks great.

How about "Shaft" helping to break Sydney out of that "prison"?

How about that guy from "Identity" being the faux cellmate for Sydney?

How about the JackCave and all those toys?

How about Sloane taking a bullet for good ol' Jack?

I loved his line how Jack and Syd were his penance. That was great. I hope Ron Rifkin doesn't die of natural problems (he always looks ill to me), because Sloane is just too good of a villian. You can't help but like the guy. Same goes for Sark.

I will forever remember him as Uma's cousin, Stinky, from Beautiful Girls. And he's got apps.

No kidding. At the end of the episode, I was like, "What the hell do they do now?! None of them can go back to their jobs!" I think the only two people who haven't publicly gone rogue are Weiss and Marshall. Oh, and Marshall's baby's momma... what the hell happened to her? Too many people to cram into an hour, I guess.

about the JackCave, Patman. His accent was great.

I knew that Baldie had been placed by Sydney's cell for a reason... whether the storywriters put him there for a plot point later, or if the NSC put him there to draw something out of Sydney, I didn't know. But I knew he wasn't just RandomBaldie.

Loved it. Everyone was in top form, but most especially Jack and Sloane.

Next week's ep looks mighty good.

Vaughn: "Is there a way to bypass the system?"
Marshall: "Of course. It's me."

Such a brilliant line for such little screen time.

Nice to know that you can hack into the NSC secure network with an XBOX.

Launch missiles with a PS2, hack into government computers with an X-Box... I think if Marshall got himself a Gamecube, he'd be set to turn evil.

(To be fair, he could've just been moving the X-Box out of the way to get to his hacking gear.)

I liked the fact Sydney wasn't in this one too much. It gave them the chance to focus on some of the characters that don't get enough screen-time.

Maybe Marshall figured out a way to hack into the government network through Xbox Live?

Even though Marshall was on-screen for like a minute he had some of the best lines. Nice to know that X-Box can be used for so many different purposes

Nice to have Shaft doing the guest spot. The best part though
was the shaft-like music playing as SpyDaddy went into the FEMA office. I guess there's a little Shaft in everybody.

Hopefully Dixon's demotion will give him some time in the field. How many people want to see a Jack/Dixon tagteam beatdown on Lindsey before the season's over? Ok that could just be me.

Though Vaughn and Jack are the prime suspects in breaking Syd out, didn't they bring Sloan in to hide the fact that they were involved? No one will know Lauren is involved because they killed snitch guy so if Sloan does his job, the CIA will think the Covenant sprung her. In theory, the only AWOL agent will be Syd.

For some reason I'm still not buying Sloan's penance speech. He's just got to be up to something. Maybe I've become too cynical in my young age.

Ooh. I never thought of that before. No, it's not just you.

I guess you're right... but it just seems like the whole thing went down so badly that it would be hard to hide their involvement. The initial plan was to tranq everyone... no killing. Instead, Syd throws a knife into her examiner's throat and Lauren shoots Baldie. But all the cameras were down, so I guess there was no security cam footage to link Team CIA to the deed.

Well, wait... how are they going to explain that the only person left not-dead or not-tranqed is Lauren? She even went with them back to wherever they went... if they were trying to keep up the appearance of it being a Covenant job, why would they bring Lauren along? I think it would've been great if Vaughn tranqed his wife and left her behind... "Sorry honey, gotta keep up the illusion."

I don't know, it all seems so Superman-and-Clark-Kent-ish. "Hey, Jack and Vaughn! Did you hear? While you were both gone at the same time, a bunch of guys busted Sydney out of the NSC facility they were in! Pretty wild, huh?"

And all of a sudden, we're back to the spy-and-counterspy stuff of pre-reboot, it seems, except this time it's CIA vs. NSC, not SD-6.
For some reason I'm still not buying Sloan's penance speech. He's just got to be up to something. Maybe I've become too cynical in my young age.
Of course he's up to something! He's Sloane! How about the way he was messing with Vaughn's head during the FEMA mission? "I must say, you are a very lucky man." "Yes, I am. How's your wife, by the way? Oh, sorry, she's DEAD! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... hm. Sorry, let's get back to the mission."

Yep, they should have tranq'ed Lauren - that would have been much better. Hope they picked up the gun she shot Stinky w/, too. And Sydney did kill the interogator, so now she is going to be wanted for that, too. Somehow they are going to have to bring Lindsey down and put all of the blame for this on him.

Of course Sloane's penance speech was BS, but it doesn't take away from the fact that it was great BS.

I hope Jack keeps going to his storage sheds - the man is well prepared for anything it seems. Spydaddy rules!

Did the shot that Lindsey took, kill him, or is he still alive.
also regarding football, since the game was on cable, one network usually shows the game as a simlcast.

For a while I thought Butterbean was in the cell next to Sydney's.

I would assume the tranquilizer dart that hit him didn't kill him. The only one shot w/ a real bullet was Campbell/Schanker (sp?) by Lauren.

Kudos to me for pegging that fat guy as a baddie from Minute 1.

Pretty good episode, favorite part was the fat guy punching Mrs. Vaughn in the face.

Everyone but Syd will be back working at the CIA next week, I have no doubt. Didn't they promote Dixon after he went crazy after his wife's death? Didn't they rehire Jack minutes after he'd been in prison? Didn't they rehire Syd after she went AWOL for 2 years? Didn't they rehire Vaughn after he quit to teach French? Come on people, this is Alias we're talking about.

Next week looks like
Spoiler:
Virtual Reality Alias, a knockoff version of The Cell with Syd going through her subconscious. I'm on board as long as Dream Syd kicks the crap out of Dream Lauren.
