Not saying Futurama isn't a good show, but it's just not that popular. Not as popular as Family Guy anyway.
Any links to back this claim up?

So is McFarlane going to do both Family Guy and that American Dad show?
Yup, and he's hinted that there might be crossovers.

Good response. I now know I don't have to give you the benefit of the doubt when it comes to whether you actually know what your are talking about...

actually the main reason they have said that futurama won't come back is because of its large budget. It has enough support that it could but it cost 1 million+ per episode, which is way too high for a cable show.
On the commentary, McFarlane stated that Family Guy also cost about 1 million per episode.

I can't wait for this to come back on so we can all say how bad it has gotten and how we all prefer the first series run.

(C'mon we all know it is going to happen!)

Anyway, I also did my part, as I watched every episode when I knew that they were on, as well as taping them. Also got the DVD releases as soon as they came out. Looking forward to new material, be it a movie or new episodes.

Here's part of a press release that should be sent out in a couple of days.

"“FAMILY GUY” RETURNS TO PRODUCTION WITH AN INITIAL ORDER OF 22 NEW EPISODES TO PREMIERE IN EARLY 2005

Emmy Award winning animated comedy series confirmed to run on Cartoon Network; FOX Broadcasting Company retains broadcast window

The new episodes will be available in early 2005 to be shown on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s late night block of animated programming for adults in which FAMILY GUY currently ranks as the #1 show. The Fox Broadcasting Company has an option to share telecast rights of those new episodes with Cartoon Network.

Seth MacFarlane, creator and executive producer of Family Guy and two-time Emmy Award winner for his work on the series, and producer Kara Vallow are currently assembling the writing and production staff for the new episodes. Returning to Family Guy will be voice talent including Seth Green (Chris Griffin), Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin), and Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin). MacFarlane will continue to contribute the voices of Stewie Griffin, Peter Griffin and the family dog, Brian.

On the new episodes of Family Guy, the Griffin family will continue to confront the day’s most explosive issues, delving into gay marriage, the shortcomings of modern parenting and the mystery of the identity of Stewie’s biological father in the first episodes alone. Family Guy will continue to be infused with rapid-fire jokes and obscure pop culture references that have earned it millions of loyal fans.

“I’m just incredibly excited that we’re back in business on Family Guy. Now all those crazy kids who’ve been hounding me to bring the show back can stop bothering me and move onto more serious matters – like saving `Coupling.’”"

Would Fox honestly pass that up? I mean, they know it sold huge on DVD, it would seem dumb not to. But I do think that it should go one way or the other, hopefully Cartoon Network.
