Friends 11/13

A good episode; the beginning with Ross talking about his marriages had me rotfl

j123vt_99 11-13-03 07:50 PM

best episode in a season or two

rfduncan 11-13-03 08:09 PM

The Ross stuff in the beginning was the funniest part of the show... which isn't saying much. I thought all the storylines were boring and predictable. The Phoebe/Mike story could have been much funnier instead of "Gee, I bet they're going to flip-flop several times on the money/wedding thing." YAWN...

AND I can't believe they reran an episode that was just aired less than a month ago. -rolleyes-

Jonny2k1 11-13-03 09:30 PM

I just thought this episode was alright, but then again I didn't give it my full attention. I don't know how you could take money back that you gave to charity. That would just feel wrong to me. Joey's turn around on the social work was great, I was almost crying.

B.A. 11-13-03 09:31 PM

I thought Joey was pretty damn hilarious when the woman from the adoption agency was at Monica/Chandler's.

And Jennifer Aniston looked great this ep, particularly at the end.

Kal-El 11-13-03 10:15 PM

That's Dr. Steadman from Scrubs as the Charity guy right?

The Antipodean 11-13-03 10:45 PM

While the new ep was fun, I too am irked that they re-ran an episode just a few weeks old in the second slot. What a friggin' waste of programming time! Why the hell not just move Scrubs back to 8:30? Geez, the networks are run by morons...

MrX 11-13-03 11:02 PM

meh

The Ross marriage stuff was funny as well as the Joey/social worker part. Ross's fear of spiders was good also.

The Phoebe/Mike story was bad.

huzefa 11-13-03 11:12 PM

Next week is more of the same crap from NBC; they're replaying the Friends with Christina Applegate (which I believe aired just last week). When will they understand? We need more Scrubs!

Deftones 11-13-03 11:23 PM

The Joey turnaround on the social worker was probably one of the funniest thing I've seen on Friends in several years.

Charlie Goose 11-14-03 12:31 AM

Very funny episode. My favorite line was when Chandler & Monica pasted on big smiles when answering the door, expecting the adoption lady, and it was Phoebe. "Is this the Creepy residence?"

Joey was great as usual too.
"You called me Bert! And Bert is our code word for danger."
"We don't have a code word."

"Joey! What are you doing here?"
"Bert! Bert! Bert!"

http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk!

Chew 11-14-03 06:04 AM

Certainly a better episode than some of the recent ones, but nowhere near the heights we expect from this show.

Morf 11-14-03 07:46 AM

Great episode. Joey had me cracking up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that episode was the one that was originally pre-empted for baseball and ran a week later than expected (thus, some people with PVRs missed it). NBC probably just wanted to make sure that people saw the episode.

Patman 11-14-03 07:57 AM

The highpoint for me was seeing Ross getting kicked in the head, I went back and slow-mo'd that scene a few time. :D

Perhaps, but next week they're showing "The One Where Rachel's Sister Babysits" which was also just aired on 10/30. Are they going to lag 3 episodes behind in the 8:30p slot through sweeps? Ugh...

Here's hoping their final Thanksgiving episode is on par with previous ones!

hgar78 11-14-03 09:53 AM

i missed it AGAIN! high winds knocked our power out from 2-10pm and i bet the ep. they reran was the other one i missed! damnit!

Joey's been the best thing this season by far :)

I don't know. I think that's the third week in a row they've used a slightly different version of the "Ross has been married many times" joke. You'd think the writers could come up with something ELSE.

But Joey's number on the social worker was hilarious!

Patman 11-14-03 10:24 AM

(Paraphrased)

"Do you know how many women I had to sleep with to get over you?" :D

He's been the best thing about the show the last few seasons and his turning of the tables w/ the social worker was the perfect example of that. I loved when he came back in after he remembered her name.

Well, you'd THINK so... except doesn't Ross basically do all that ridiculous one-note physical comedy every week (e.g. getting whapped in the head by a swing). The character just sucks and becomes one-note pretty much after season 5.

No, it's usually somebody else making fun of Ross and then Ross makes a stupid face. This time Ross was the one cracking wise about himself, and self-deprecating humor is always funny.

Joey with the social worker..... great job. Now I'm thinking his new show might not be so bad. ;)

Absolutely! Up til then my #1 moment in Friends history was the scene in the laundry room when Rachel takes him down with the dryer door.

Well, that's still probably #1, but getting kicked by the kid on the swing is right up there. David Schwimmer is really good at slapstick, and the fact that I can't stand Ross makes it that much sweeter :D

loved this ep

joey was priceless

i want to see more g strings !

hahn 11-14-03 09:33 PM

I hate to say it but the show's not as funny anymore. Everything's feeling forced or re-used. I'm thinking that they pushed Scrubs to 9:30 so that people wouldn't realize how much less humorous it is now, by comparing it immediately to Scrubs. Time for Friends to end and for Scrubs to be pushed to the forefront. In fact, Scrubs should be made into a 1 hour sitcom.
