But we don't really know how long Jor-El was hangin' around on Earth before he showed up in Smallville, so maybe his powers had time to build. Maybe he was sitting in the cave making the drawings before he wandered into town ...

That's the feeling you have the entire time with Smallville—that it's just about to be good, but it never is.
Some of you whine and moan because it doesn't follow some set comic book type guideline or official story. Get over it. It's a TV show with it's own take on the Clark Kent growing up.
He doesn't know it's destroyed.
That's pretty much exactly how I feel about Smallville. A few weeks ago I said something along the lines of "It's not a terrible show, I just wish it was a BETTER show", and I stand by it.
So do I gather that since there isn't a thread yet, that people are losing interest in this show?

I doubt anyone who has posted in this thread thinks it's a bad show. Some people just wish it was a great show.

If the show is that bad, why do you continue to show up and watch it? Obviously it's good enough to get you to tune in. Just stop watching if you don't like it.

From Meatpants' post (quoted from somewhere else, I believe):
I thought this was funny because I was listening to the DVD commentary for the first ep and the commentators stated that it was a good idea to have them kissing. They actually used the word "kiss."
My girlfriend watches it because she thinks the whole point of the show is this homoerotic thing that the writers are doing with Lex and Clark. They're constantly staring into each other's eyes and giving each other looks. She's watching basically for the hot boy-on-boy action.

The 1st two weeks of the season Smallville has done great in the ratings.

I believe Kypton has been sending it's leaders to other planets for a long time and that is how the cave was formed/written.
There will be many more flash backs over the next few season to let us know the Smallville/Clark/Jor-El/Cave past.

I didn't get that out of it. I kind of figured a Kryptonian showed up on earth every now and again (like a Predator/Predator 2 kinda vibe) as a rite of passage or something. So the person described in the cave drawings is not in fact Jor-El but one of the other Kryptonians who visited hundreds of years before him.

I am not sure where the writers are going with this, but I guess one day the caves are going to take the place of the crystals in the Superman movie and will ultimately teach him the history of Krypton. In the comics, how did Clark learn about his true heritage and the history of the world?

It was a nice twist on the traditional superman story. But from this does it seem that Jor-el can be a good guy? Maybe all the things that he's been doing to Clark are just tests to make sure he's prepared for anything that can happen?
