I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this yet. In the preview for next week's episode, Andrew says that he thinks that Osten has given up yet and he doesn't need ppl like that on his tribe.
Osten is freakin' diesel and I'm a workout freak myself. Although my legs are definitely weak, I can still squat 185 lbs for 10 reps on my final set and I'm about 5'7", 155 lbs.
Osten looks like he can easily squat 315 lbs no problem and can probably max out for one rep at over 500 lbs.
It's true that the pole will most likely hurt a regular person but Osten has HUGE traps which neutralizes the pain of the bar. Standing up like that with weight should be no problem. I mean, he gave out on the equivalent of a 45 lb bar and a 45 lb plate, a 10 lb plate, and a 2.5 lb plate on each side. That's just pathetic.
So I think that Andrew was right that Osten has just given up and wants to be voted off.

I didn't really understand why they wanted to vote of Shawn at first, and then it really didn't make sense when they turned on Rupert. Didn't they just get their butts kicked on a very physical immunity challenge? And they want to oust one of their two physically strongest tribe members?
I know they determine the games beforehand, but doesn't it seem like that immunity challenge was tailor-made for the ones that won it? Sure, Osten got out pretty early, but it was pretty stacked with three pretty strong guys on one side. Now imagine if they had a similar challenge later on, without Rupert or Shawn...
Didn't someone mention that Jon aspires to be a pro-wrestler? I thought maybe that meant he was wirey and deceptively strong, but I guess not...

I'm beginning to think that Osten is faking it, and may be the person responsible for the "biggest lie" that Jeff spoke about in interviews before the season started.
From Zap2it.com:
Based on that, it can't be a simple lie told by one castaway to others (say, about alliances or personal info), as Jeff would've been privy to raw footage, bios, background checks, etc. But something like Osten acting like a total wuss -- can't swim, scared of animals, weak-willed, wanting to quit, etc. -- could've suckered him.
I'm no Osten fan, but if this turns out to be true, it has to be the gutsiest strategy ever.
From Zap2it.com:
After six turns as the host of "Survivor," Jeff Probst pretty much knows his job cold. Every now and then, though, something on the show catches him by surprise.
That happened during his stint off the coast of Panama for "Survivor: Pearl Islands," the seventh edition of the game, which premieres at 8 p.m. ET Thursday (Sept. 18) on CBS. For a time, he says he fell for "the greatest lie ever told on 'Survivor.' "
"It's brilliant. It's brutal and it's brilliant and it totally suckered me," says Probst, who, naturally, won't divulge who told the lie or what its ramifications were. "My first reaction was 'Motherf----r,' and then my second reaction was 'Wow, that's amazing.' "

Well, I think WE would, and Probst sees it more than we do, so you never know. That IS a good theory... because as you say... how on earth can that guy not lift that much weight. But on the other hand, there is so much stuff he does that can't be fake stupidity.
As for Rupert, I love the guy, but damn, I get a little scared when he gets so angry, but I guess that's just because I don't have ANY temper at all, so I'm not used to it.
An interesting thing though, on the Early Show, Michelle said she was conflicted about Rupert, but wouldn't say why. Now that is really odd... seriously, you can find this clip online (normally called EarlyShow Episode 04 or something)... and it's very very weird.
Rupert shouldn't say that kind of thing at Tribal Council.
Jon is annoying, but he's a good actor, the way he back stabbed Burton a few episodes back and all... his eyes were cold. It's as if he never has any feeling inside, he's loving what he's doing.
I gained a lot of respect for Andrew today. He just annoyed the hell out of me the first few episodes with his pep talks every single episode.
I'm really enjoying this Survivor, but I think as soon as a few more players are gone I'm going to really miss them.

Rupert needs to shut his big yap at tribal council. And Sandra was dumb to be blabbing about the vote, right before the vote at tribal council.

I think that by booting off someone you had an alliance with, you are betraying them.
Doesn't anyone else remember that for most of this survivor, Trish and Christa and Sandra were talking about the "strong alliance" they had with Rupert, how they trusted him, etc? THAT's why Trish looks like a traitor, to Rupert and the other Drakes, because she was in an alliance with him, and she led the "let's get rid of Rupert" charge. Stupid, stupid, stupid, and that's not in reference to wanting to get rid of him, but in reference to the fact that she clearly didn't pay attention to how strong the rest of the alliance felt with him (Christa and Sandra). Nevermind whether there's reason to get rid of him now or not (I'm kind of agreeing with both sides on that one), but I can't believe she thought she had the votes! She put her eggs in the wrong basket, period.I was also surprised at the comments at Tribal council, I initially thought Rupert was tipping his hand too much, but then Trish does the wide-eyed-innocent lying game, so I guess she didn't believe that he was on to them (again: stupid). Jon shouldn't have been as surprised as he was, especially given Rupert's speech... but I loved the look on his face anyways...

Jeff - on payroll.
Cameraman - on payroll.
Osten - first "Survivor" on payroll? Could be, a la "Joe Schmo" or "The Mole".
Things about Osten: doesn't like bugs/birds,anything, doesn't want to move shelter, can't swim during a challenge, can't hold weight during 2 challenges, etc.

You make good points SunMonkey, but Osten puts them to such a large degree if it's true.
I don't think it is, really... I think it's going to be something we just don't expect, and maybe Rupert related.

Perhaps Rupert is hide cans of food in his beard and has been surviving on those. This explains how he is able to remain so energetic! It could become the next Survivor tactic. Grow a ZZ-Top style beard and store a whole pot roast in there.
Wow, I really need some sleep.

Well, Jeff did an interview on Haber and Erin yesterday and said that the " greatest lie" hasn't happened yet and that, at this point, we wouldn't have any idea what the lie is.
So I guess that shoots down the "Osten=lie" theory. He really is just a wimp!
