Steven Spielberg's Taken.

Did I do a good or bad thing by ordering Taken from my Share-the-love list? I peruse every couple of days for new things that I might be interested in. I like shows like Buffy, Angel, and The X-Files. So what's the word?

I think Taken is a great miniseries. My roommate and I want to get the DVDs but we are pretty poor right now. We've been watching the reairing of the show for the last few Sundays.

Like MFRONE I loved the series, but due to money constraints I also can't afford the $80 for the set, so I've just been catching the repeats on SciFi. I'm hoping it will get a better sale so that I can pick it up without stretching my budget.

I was waiting for someone to bring up the "Steven Spielberg Presents" tag line. I almost put it in my last post, but I thought it would be funnier to see people get in the huge debate over it again.

I read the book and if the Series is as bad....you wasted your money

The story has been done before.

Justy FYI, I've been told that the book is poorly written and that it omits a lot of great stuff that happens in the series. I can say that the series wasn't terribly original, it was basically Close Encounters meets The X-Files, but it was very well done IMO. The weakest part was the ending which was pure Spielberg schmaltz. Everything leading up to that, though, was excellent--it had some great writing and some great acting.

I thought it was an excellent series when it first aired. I watched it almost everynight, i think i missed the sixth or seventh episode. Anyways, I really enjoyed it, I hope to be buying it, and no you didn't waste your money.

I thought the series was ok, but it moved way too slowly. It started off really strong but got really boring in the middle. I actually lost interest pretty much, but since I had already invested so much time in it I watched the rest of it. I had it all recorded and I think it took me about a month to force myself to watch it all. I thought the ending was kinda lame too, not much payoff for sticking through the whole thing.

There is no way on earth I would ever want to even watch one minute of it again though. I like Buffy, Angel, and X-Files also. I'd say overall it is very similar to an X-Files theme, just with a ton of slow-moving filler in it.

I really did try to watch it. Gave it to good ol' college try, but found it to be tedious and dry. I hope you enjoy it though.

I also caught most of the first airing. Wasn't up to snuff. I think more editing could have been done to make the show half as long and tell a better story.

I thought it was a good miniseries but agree that the ending wasn't a big payoff. But the trip getting there was pretty good. I enjoyed going through and following three different families for three five decades.

Oh and Powerbomb, you need to update your sig
