I just got hi-def ABC a couple weeks ago and I noticed the same thing. Most of last night's episode was really hard on the eyes (except for Sydney in the bikini). :)

I think they noticed her dive in, they just didn't realize that it happened from so many stories up. No one was in the pool... they heard the splash, turned around, and saw her get out. There was no reason to think that she fell from the heavens.

Are all HDTV shows a little darker than normal? I noticed Smallville and CSI also seem to be darker than normal on HDTV.

It was an okay episode. I still thought that Sark (that's his name, right?) should have noticed Syn while she was going over the plan. I don't buy that "I'll just turn around and he won't notice me" trick.

I think Sloane's starting to show his villain side again - talking to Lauren.

Was anybody else bopping their head to the music when Syn and her team was breaking into that facility near the end of the episode? :)

I still love the show, but none of the episodes so far this year have really grabbed me. They had the opportunity to do another reboot that could really shake things up, but so far they've just been treading the same ground they've been on before. Didn't they do the "Hurry and upload a criminal profile for me" thing in the first season?

Regarding the HD picture quality, yeah it looks pretty poor. The show has a new director of photography and he apparently likes everything to be dark and grainy.

Syd had a very Elektra like look going on.
My girlfriend said the same thing...

Yep. I agree wholeheartedly..

Next Episode: Sunday, October 26
"Repercussions"

Spoiler:
While Vaughn's life hangs in the balance, Lauren butts heads with Sydney after learning the part she played in his stabbing. Meanwhile, Sydney further questions Sloane's allegiances after he is kidnapped by Kazari Bomani (Djimon Hounsou), a kingpin in The Covenant; Jack's cover is jeopardized when he meets with Simon (Justin Theroux) to dig up information on Sydney's missing two years; and Marshall is sent on his second mission with Sydney, posing as a high-stakes, southern gambler.

That ought to be fun!

Agreed. For the first episode or two, I thought it was just because of the 'confusion' that Syd had... and that I'd get used to it. But something definitely seems off so far this season. For one thing, the episodes seem extremely 'talky' to me. This last episode opened with Syd and Dad chatting for what seemed like a long, long time. And most of the dialog was just recapping stuff that we already knew.

Actually, a lot of my favorites seem a bit 'off' so far. Alias, NYPD Blue, ER, West Wing... they all are struggling out of the gates.

Every week, the "alias" part of Alias gets more inane. Especially considering they're always infiltrating the same groups, shouldn't the word be out in the underground that there's a hot looking chick who works undercover for the CIA? Week after week, they slap a wig on, or she wears a sombrero, and The Alliance/The Covenant can't crack her cover. -ohbfrank-

Pretty lame episode. Did they say Syd had 7 minutes to get that necklace? How long does it take to completely change into a maid's uniform? And  when the guy from Mulholland Drive boots up his laptop and has "Enter Search Query" into Interpol up, give me a break.

The Syd/Vaughn stabbing reminded me immediately of the Buffy/Angel stabbing. Kudos to thrush's comment about Vaughn's balls or lack therof.

I thought this was the best episode so far this year.

I hope Vaughn dies but I guess there isn't much chance of that.

Also agree with the folks that are saying the show is very dark, even on the regular broadcast.
