I'll record it tonight and watch it later once I watch the first series.

Spoiler:
The second season opens with David coming up comedically short in his battle of wits with Slough's new manager (Patrick Baladi). Also, Tim's chemistry with a sexy new co-worker (Stacey Roca) irks Gareth.

The guide data was a little fuzzy on this.

There was no episode title, but there was an episode description. Is it one episode per week, mutliply played Sunday night/Monday morning and then repeated again later that week? Then we won't get a new episode until the following Sunday? I'm manually recording a middle of the night episode just to cause less chance for Sunday night conflicts...

How many eps. is it?

This is the best scheduling info I can see (all times Central):

Gosh darn, was this episode funny.

I loved the Royal Family joke (repeated 3 times no less) and the cookie jar. "Stop! Stay away from the cookie jar!"

It's been awhile since I laughed this hard at a TV comedy show.

So what is everyone thinking of this season so far, I just watched the rest of the episodes on the UK DVD, and the 2nd season is spectacular.

Brilliant stuff, just when you think it can't get any better it just steps up.

Based on the positive reviews here, I've seen one episode so far. Pretty good. That was the episode with the birthday party and the pink dildo. The manager is a hoot.

I've watched British sitcoms before and I still have to pay very close attention to the dialogue of this show or else I can't understand it underneath the heavy accents.

What's the basic premise of the show? I expected it to be a little like "Office Space", the movie.

I love the office. The promos for it capture the essence perfectly - it IS both the saddest, and funniest show.

Premise - beware, there are some spoilers, though I attempted to keep it to a minimum. Filmed as a mockumentary, with the characters speaking to the camera at times as though they were being interviewed, the show has an ad-libbed feel, although most of it is scripted. The actor who plays David Brent is one of the writers/producers.

Season (Series) 1:
Spoiler:
Two branches of a paper company need to be consolidated into one. Which will close, Swindon or Slough? David Brent runs Slough - he sees himself as a hip, young, funny boss who is in tune with his staff. Work isn't just work - you should have a laugh while there, and he is the self-appointed entertainer. There is an office prankster who flirts with the receptionist (who encourages it ) - and they pull many a prank on the unsuspecting Gareth, a brown-nosing clueless former member of the territorial army.

Hilarity ensues when the most obnoxious, non-pc, racist/bigoted/ignorant/etc comments pop out of David's mouth - and you get to see the aftermath. You'll squirm with embarrassment sometimes, but it is hilarious nonetheless.

Watch to see what happens when the horror of redundancies (layoffs) hits home with the staff.

Season (Series) 2:
Spoiler:
One of the branches has closed, so some staff has been replaced. Redundancies, you know. Who survived the cutbacks? Who is in charge? What horribly embarrassing things will the characters say this time? Watch and see. More of what made Season one so great, but if possible, even more embarrassing moments.

The single thing that makes this show for me is the characters acknoledging the camera. The little glances that David gives the camera while he's trying to impress someone or something embarassing just happened to him crack me up.

"What is this?"
"A dildo?"

Yup his knowing glance at the camera when he pulls a move, or thinks he has been clever.

Brilliant. I can't wait for you guys to watch the next 3 episodes.

He actually says f**k on the bbc dvd, so I will be curious if you see it on bbc america

Some drawbacks for me. I've seen 2 eps so far. I can't get used to the dim lighting with muted colors. It's a strain on the eyes. It's as if everything is shot under fluorescent lights. And then there's the camera which must be a hand-held. There's a lot of shaking and blurriness. I guess this is what gives the show a mock documentary feel but it's hard to view.

I got the series 2 DVD last week, and my wife and I have watched the first 4 episodes so far. So far (I'll try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible):

It's not right that you start to feel sorry for David. I should never be put into a position where I sympathize with a man like David Brent! It's just wrong.

I love how Dawn is being treated. It's great to see her like that.

Gareth is even funnier this year (if that's possible).

More Finchy, please.

The first series was like watching (and laughing at) a car wreck. The second is more like watching (and laughing at) a train wreck.
