8 Simple Rules for Dating Al Bundy's Daughter!!

I heard on the radio that Ed O'neil was invited to be on the show. I don't know whether he is going to be a new character or a replacement for John.

I know most were hoping for Henry Winkler, but I think Ed may be a good choice as he has worked with Katie Segall and they have some chemistry between them. It would be weird seeing them together in good parent roles instead of dysfunctional family roles!!

I did a coouple of searches, so if this is a repost, I will remove it...

I could see him appearing as a guest but not taking over the lead role. Otherwise, there would be too many comparisons to the Bundys of MWC.

Plus, he's already doing L.A. Dragnet.

...Unless they've already pulled the plug on that one after 1 episode :-(

Wouldn't this role seriously conflict with hi dramatic LA Dragnet role?

I heard he is going to come in as either the brother of John Ritter's (RIP) or Katie Segal's character for a few guest appearances.

Ah, that makes more sense. The story was a bit vague and said "[O'Neil] was asked to be on the show" or something along those lines..

Yeah, the ABC execs were trying to figure out who to cast, so they came to DVDtalk. Then they spotted your post out of the dozen people around here that suggested Al and Peg Bundy be reunited. Eureka!

An ABC spokeswoman sniffed, "I haven't heard of this, and I don't think it's true."
Since he IS already cast in Dragnet, I seriously doubt this is remotely true either.

It was mentioned today on my local news program [Ch. 11 GOOD DAY LIVE], that he might do both shows at the same time. They are both ABC programs, so who knows?, tha'll be COOL.

Matthew Perry had no problems fitting Ally McBeal and The West Wing into his Friends schedule, or all the movies George Clooney made in the middle of ER's filming. It's not like O'Neill is going to be a regular on 8 Simple Rules.

Considering that NBC pulled out the Law & Order club (they aired an SVU re-run) to pound Dragnet in the ratings, who knows how long Dragnet will be around. I'm sure that Dick Wolf loved NBC for doing that.
