DALLAS and KNOTS LANDING question
For those who don't know, Knots Landing became the spin-off of Dallas. KL featured Gary Ewing, the middle brother of John Ross II (J.R.) and Robert (Bobby) from Dallas, who ran away to have his own life outside of the oil business.
On Dallas, Gary appeared twice, to my knowledge - in the form of David Ackroyd (in one episode) and Ted Shackleford (in another, and the final actor to become Gary Ewing).
My question is, while Gary appeared on Dallas, did any character(s) from Dallas ever appear on Knots Landing?

Bobby (Patrick Duffy) was in the pilot episode, Episode 26 ("The Loudest Word"), and Episode 59 ("New Beginnings")
J.R. (Larry Hagman) was in Episode 2 ("Community Spirit"), Episode 22 ("A Family Matter"), Episode 30 ("Designs"), Episode 55 ("Daniel"), and Episode 59 ("New Beginnings")
Charlene Tilton (Lucy) was in Episode 6 ("Home is for Healing").
Mary Crosby (Kristen) was in Episode 18 ("Kristen").
Episode 59, "New Beginnings" was the second part of a two-parter that started on "Dallas" and concerned the reading of Jock Ewing's will...which is why all three brothers were in those episodes (Gary was in the cooresponding Dallas episode as well).

Was J.R.'s hatred towards his brother Gary because he was their mother's favorite, or because he didn't want him to possibly disrupt his seat as head of Ewing Oil? As far as his respect and tolerance towards Bobby, is this because Bobby stands up to J.R. while Gary always backed down?
Dallas question only: Did Jock's brother, Jason Ewing, have any children?

J.R. repsects Bobby more because Bobby was always Jock's "favorite", plus he was more interested in both Ewing Oil and the Ranch.

While always a big fan of Dallas, I never got into Knots Landing - every time I tune into KL, I never see any storylines about Gary Ewing. Since KL is a spin-off of Dallas, I thought the show would be centered around Gary and his wife.
For you KL fans, what was the first episode about? Was it all about Gary and Valene? Did Gary and Valene start off as the main source of material, then later drop down to minor characters as the series progressed to the double digits (season 10, for example)?
Finally, in the KL episodes that had J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), what was his reason for being in California? Did his being there ever cross over into the Dallas series?
