'Racy' Coupling pulled from 2 stations

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,98151,00.html
NEW YORK — Two NBC stations have yanked the racy series "Coupling" (search) before its premiere.
Notre Dame-run WNDU in South Bend, Ind. and KSL in Salt Lake City, Utah, have dropped the show, which premieres tomorrow, because its content goes "well beyond the boundaries of our community standards," they say.
NBC has been hyping the show, based on a raunchy BBC sitcom, as a sexually charged show about six thirtysomethings and their randy exploits. The campaign seems to have worked a little too well, as far as the stations are concerned.
"Never mind . . . I don't think that episode should be too rude," "Coupling" executive producer Beryl Vertue told The Post yesterday. "I think those are both quite religious areas [where the show was yanked] but I don't think the show is particularly irreligious . . . and I would be surprised if too many people will be offended."
NBC is said to be looking for alternative stations on which to air "Coupling" in South Bend and Salt Lake City.
"It's unfortunate that not everyone will have the opportunity to make their own viewing decisions," NBC said.

I honestly think the only thing on this planet that has more sex than Mormons are bunnies. I think Chris Rock put it best, "put the dick down!"
Back on topic, I feel bad for most of america that will watch this crap NBC is putting out and think that this is what all the hub bub was about. Unless you watch the real version you are missing everything. I am a huge fan of the BBC show, but I wont be watching this garbage.

I rented the Season 1 DVD for the BBC version, and will be tuning in to see how badly the American version butchers the original British verison.
The DVD is recommended by me!

It's been quite a while since I've seen a funnier episode than "The Woman with Two Breasts" from Coupling Season 1.

That episode is funnier than anything made for tv on this side of the Atlantic in a long time. However, I prefer "The Man with Two Legs" even more than that one.

I'm still waiting for the network affiliate who puts his foot down and refuses to broadcast a TV show because it's total $hit. That would be a decision I'd respect.

I think it's unfortunate, at least in KSL's case, that they don't believe I'm capable of determining if this show is "too racy" on my own. No, they believe it's too racy for everyone, therefore nobody should view it. That said, I'll still watch an episode or two--since the local WB picked it up--just to see if it's as bad as everyone thinks it will be. I sincerely doubt it'll even be close to the British version, which I love.
And yes, mormons have lots of sex. And since I'm not mormon, I don't get laid much!

"racy" or not, i still think it's gonna be bad. when you have something as great as the original showing on cable, you can't compare. i will still watch tomorrow night, but i don't have high hopes.

Same here. I'll probably watch the first few episodes until The O.C. comes back. I'm curious to see what they come up with on the shows with original scripts.

The British version is being shown on our local PBS affiliate. The home of Sesame Street can handle it, but Salt Lake City can't.

Yeah I just read that the DC PBS affiliate will be airing back-to-back UK "Coupling" episodes on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 9-10, starting Oct. 9.

Yeah.
Actually, MPT has shown Coupling on Saturday nights in the past (where I caught most of S1 and S2). I am now finishing up on the latest S3 run on BBC-America.
