Michael Weatherly (Tony) is leaving the show at the end of the season

The show won't be the same without him, but 13 years is a long time to stay on 1 show. I'm sure he was ready to move on and do something else than just cash paychecks.

They obviously filmed the park scenes at Magic Mountain, what with The Great American Revolution in the background.

He will be hard to replace. The show has survived other changes but the dynamic Tony brings to the show is unmistakable. The only person harder to replace would be Mark Harmon and he probably wouldn't be replaceable.

Weatherly leaving will be a blow
hopefully they don't kill his character
I'm only a couple episodes into this season but Gibbs mentioned Tony's previous promotion offer to lead his own team. Hopefully that's how they write him off, that way he could make a guest appearance down the road

Renewed for at least 2 more seasons

http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/ncis...bs-1201718274/

And you wouldn't think by this ghost town of a thread, but jeezus a lot of people watch this show still!

“NCIS” is the top rated broadcast drama in the U.S., averaging 20.47 million viewers in its 13th season. For the past two years, the show has been awarded the International Audience Award by Eurodata TV Worldwide and The Monte Carlo Television Festival for being “the most watched drama series in the world.

Back in the day, 20M+ viewers was impressive but not uncommon however, with the number of choices both on TV and online, that is pretty damn good. It will be interesting to see how it was with Michael Weatherly leaving and who they replace him with.

With the amount of shows on right now, a procedural like NCIS is very forgettable for most in a forum like this. Not surprised that this show rarely gets talked about.

For a show that's 13 years old and will be on for at least 2 more seasons, it's still getting pretty damn impressive numbers. I'm interested in seeing how they write out Weatherly. I'm leaning towards some kind of reunion with Ziva and them running off together at the end.

That is one show I watch every week with my wife because she is really into it. I enjoy it if it's on but not something I seek out. I'm surprised it has such a strong following, it feels played out at times.

Just binged watched the last 8 episodes over the last 2 days.

They kind of gave a hint in the last episode that aired the reason for Tony's inevitable departure. A woman who he went on a date with a few episodes ago stole his identity. And she used some actors pretending to be him to blackmail some politicians.

She told the actors that Tony had no life, same old job, no wife or kids. When the actors got arrested and told that to him, it looked like that hit close to home. I have a feeling he may quit and probably be reunited with Ziva.

The episode that aired a week prior with Robert Wagner and a woman with a terminal brain tumor was quite poignant.

I guess they couldn't hire Cote de Pablo for one last gig. Or they just got tired of the fans wanting them to bring her back.

I'm whatever on taking Ziva out like that; but not liking at all how dinozzo went out. They couldn't think of something better than using a kid?

Guess that leaves room for him to come back if his new show fails.

So we getting 2 probies next year or they just gonna hit the ground/cases running?

And I could not shake the feeling of Sarah clark's heel turn from 24 and that shit was 15 years ago. Guess that's a testament to how good it / she was back in the day

It's Soap Opera 101: body "burned beyond recognition" = person is not really dead. I predict we'll see Tony & Ziva in the series finale, if I live that long.

The new additions this season should be interesting.

I liked the British black guy who joined late last season. Not sure about Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito yet. She was good on Blue Bloods though. I'm guessing he was cast to add humor.

Going to be tough replacing Weatherly

Re: NCIS (CBS) --- Series Discussion Thread

Looks like Wilmer is the dark character and Jennifer is there to add humor.

No mention of seeing Captain Bud Roberts and a shout out to Harm and Mac? Man, I still miss that show, and it still bothers me that Zoe McLellan isn't playing Coates on NCIS: NO.

Yeah, I mentioned the same thing on the NO thread but just when I got used to her new character she leaves the show.

NCIS's showrunner Gary Glasberg died today. Horrible news. Only 50 years old.

He was also the creator of NCIS New Orleans.

That's a shame. I think he did some interviews for featurettes on the various NCIS DVD releases.

Yeah, that was kind funny. Too bad Tony wasn't there... :(

The second episode with Wilmer and Esposito was better IMO. I do wonder how this will work when Duane Henry arrives. Is he a regular? If so, I wonder if another character will be out (Ellie Bishop?). Seems like it could be a bit crowded with one more (or perhaps Wilmer's character flames out and leaves). But I don't know how contracts work since he's a series regular.

I own most of the NCIS DVDs and he did interviews and commentaries on the last 5 years he's been showrunner. He seemed like a pleasant man. Sad that he died before his time, but at least he died in his sleep.

haven't watched any of this season yet of any of the 3
just finished NCIS and have two more eps of the other two to finish

lame that they killed off Ziva off screen. Glad they didn't kill Dinozo to write him off
