The pool shots are indeed at Mandalay Bay (I believe)...I was just there not too long ago...

I missed the finale (I even have a DVR...) and I wish I could see it now...

They built out a huge casino on their soundstages in Hollywood. For next season, they get to built out a more upscale casino on their soundstages.

In Vanessa Marcil's Maxim spread she mentions that the soundstages for Las Vegas are the second largest ever built for a TV show behind the West Wing.

BTW, I don't think that there will be any cast changes for the fall since there has been no rumours about changes to the show.

Oh well, September is a long time from now.

theedge 05-31-05 12:14 AM

Probably won't be cast changes except for the addition of the new owner if it is not Dean Cain, which I hope it is not.

Okay, Vanessa Marcil, Eva Longoria or Kristin Kreuk....a page from Howard Stern, Marry, Kill or F! :D

06/06/05 - Las Vegas: "Pilot" w/ Commentary

NBC is broadcasting the Pilot episode of Las Vegas tonight and the NBC site says that they will have a downloadable commentary from Executive Producer Gary Scott Thompson available later today/tonight.

Interesting concept, here's the NBC site link:

http://www.nbc.com/Las_Vegas/

I started watching LV during the season finale last year (2004) and will be tuning into tonight sans commentary.

pilot 06-06-05 11:23 AM

sounds like they're trying to do the "podcast" thing to see if people will download them. The dvds had a commentary on the pilot episode by Gary Scott Thompson, James Lesure, Nikki Cox, Molly Sims and Marsha Thomason. I wonder if this is just him alone or if they're going to recycle the commentary from the DVDs.

Chew 06-06-05 11:24 AM

Several sci-fi shows have been doing podcast commentaries for a while now: Battlestar Galactica, Enterprise, Stargate Atlantis. It's good to see it's expanding to the main networks.

I think we're the only two who like the podcasts for current TV shows. (granted this isn't a new episode, but if it's not the commentary from the DVD will be cool to hear "new" comments/etc especially since season two has ended, if this was recorded recently)

pilot 06-06-05 11:40 AM

you can download it now (40megs), http://www.nbc.com/nbc/Las_Vegas/pilot_commentary.mp3

pilot, you're right, that does seem to be the case. :)

pilot 06-06-05 11:52 AM

bleh it's recycled from the dvds (almost positive, he introduces all the people from the DVD one in this one..so I'm assuming it's the same)..oh well..it's the thought that counts, right?

Boo Hiss Boo Hiss!

... since I'm TiVoing it, I might have to watch it once then go back and watch it with the commentary.

I wonder how they'll handle the commercials?

there is usually a "beep" indicating a commercial break (or the commentator(s) say "please pause" and then it beeps when you should resume..I guess they modified the existing one to include it.

Goldberg74 06-06-05 01:13 PM

Thanks pilot.

So was Mary a hooker or "escort" in the first episode? I seem to remember that is the impression that I had...

I'd like to hear the commentary for that too. They don't explicitly say that she is a hooker, but it seems to be implied IIRC.

LorenzoL 06-06-05 09:35 PM

I can't believe that I only started watching this show since the middle of this past season. Shame on me.

I'm not sure that she was/wasn't... when she starts dating the lawyer one of the chicks asks if Danny is the only man she's ever been with and she's rather sheepish and says "yeah, kind of".

I'm not saying that is the actual backstory. I'm saying they 'changed' what she did after the pilot was shot. In the pilot, Danny references 'her girls' and Mary talks about having dates. I think Danny's narrative about her being the Special Events Director was added in right before the pilot aired on NBC.
