Greg, Kevin, Joe, Mike, Bill, Ryan....they're all the same!

That book is sitting on my bookshelf begging to be read. I probably won't get to it anytime soon, but I'll definitely read it before my next trip to Vegas.

God, I hated that show.

Don't wait that long - it's a great, FAST, read.

On a seperate note, I heard somewhere that Kevin Spacey bought the rights for the movie.

Wrong. I found this in next week's synapsis at TVGuide.com:

Spoiler:

Danny and Mary's compulsive-gambler friend is found dead.

Also, on TiVo, the synapsis mentions that he was Danny's childhood friend. So he wasn't a brother.

I thought it was ok. I'll stick around for a couple of episodes for the hot chicks.

Can anybody explain the weird look they all gave Danny when he mentioned the CIA at dinner?

What was with Danny going to get advice about his girlfriend, then Nicki Cox bringing up his Dad all of a sudden? Seemed like forced character development. Then the 'family business' turns out to be construction? Why is that a big deal?

So Nicki Cox isn't a hooker? I'm all confused.

My guess about the CIA thing is that either his Caan's family doesn't know he's ex-CIA, or more realistically, it's just a taboo conversation piece. If you're an ex spy, I don't think you want everybody to know. It's all hush hush.

I don't know if the construction biz is a big deal, but maybe Danny just doesn't want to be doing that. He'd rather live an exciting life of a Las Vegas security consultant. On a far-fetched note, maybe his family is somehow tied into the mafia. A lot of construction companies are either fronts for the mob or are connected to the mob in other ways.

He said that Nikki Cox wasn't a hooker. She's an events planner or something. Before the show aired I thought she was a hooker (I swear I read that somewhere) so they either changed that at the last minute or I misread it.

I watched this last night and absolutely loved it. Jimmy Caan works quite well in it and the narration, I felt, was actually a good thing. I just hope it can compete against CSI: Miami.

Las Vegas 9/29

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, STAYS IN VEGAS

DANNY HUNTS FOR HIS FRIENDS MURDERER WHILE BIG ED MUST CONCEAL THE IDENTITY OF AN IMPORTANT GUEST -- When the body of Danny's (Josh Duhamel) childhood friend Greg is discovered in the desert, the ex-marine decides to hunt down the killer himself setting his sights on a sleezy local loan shark. Meanwhile, the arrivial of ultra-conservative and moral Senator Bill Henderson (guest star Daniel Hugh Kelly) in sin city puts Ed (James Caan) on edge as he must conceal the important guest's identity from a investigative reporter looking for a story. Elsewhere, Mary (Nikki Cox) settles in into her new position as hotel special events coordinator while attempting to control an actor taking his role as King Arthur in the dinner show to heart as he believes Ed to be Merlin reborn. Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims and James Lesure also star.

Sounds like a good one tonight! Who'll be watching?

Good episode tonight. The cast members of this show are growing on me - they are fun to watch. I just hope that this show is able to keep high enough ratings to last a full season.

I will STRONGLY disagree with everyone previously.
The show is absolutely absurd. The show is in no way remotely realistic.
I will forgive last week's episode in which some dude in fluffy slippers wins and then LOSES more than 1 million dollars. I will ignore the fact the casino hired a whale thief and that someone would cheat and win 3 million dollars and still stay! (with the valet /accomplice walking around and talking into a headphone in the front parking lot) .
Tonight's episode boadered on the impossible. A holier than thou Senator comes to Vegas, goes after all the girls/strippers and gambles up a storm. He acts like a jerk and brings lots of attention to himself. The show somehow wants the viewer to believe that he expects the casnio/Ed to protect his identity. WTF.
Before people say Bill Bennett, the story is more absurd because the Senator expects the casino to protect him. Please also do not get me started on the Hispanic cop (terrible acting) and the painfully melodramatic scene at the morgue with Nikki Cox.
This show needs to go AWAY just simply for destroying so much potential.

And how does this show affect you if it continues to air long after you've stopped watching?

High roller, big spender, rich bastard, etc. Typically, it's somebody whose net worth is at least $5 million.

Not speaking for another but I didn't get that he was implying he wanted his opinion to speak for everyone on the fate of the show but rather conveying his disappointment with the intention and realization of it, or rather lack thereof.
