I agree about Nikki Cox not aging gracefully. She looked a little rough. As for the show itself I thought it was ok, but like some others have said I don't see how this show can remain fresh over a period of time. There will only be so many times they can bust cheaters.

anyone notice the window reflected boob shot during the sex scene?
Oh yeah, I slow-mo'd it just in case I missed it the first time around.

Plus, how about all that side boobage in the elevator?

The cheating guy: Even if you are cheating, you're not going to win every hand. Even if you know the dealer's cards, you're not going to win every hand. And what if, on that last 'all-in' hand, he had hit blackjack? They already knew the guy was cheating...so I guess even if he had won it, they could have taken all the money, but why the need to risk that last hand?

Besides all that, I liked the show.

FS
That part also bugged me, but then again I have never even been to a casino so what do I know? The only thing I can guess on the last hand is that they knew they were going to win from the shuffle because they had the camera so they knew it was OK to end it at that hand. Also, for a cheater, he seemed to bring way too much attention to himself. I say, win a few thousand, 100,000 at the most, then check out and come back another day. But to rack up 3.5 mil and have the whole casino staff watching you seemed ridiculous to have him stay.

Other than that I liked the show, and will be tuning in again next week. Caan is great, more angry Caan.

Yeah, the guy running his winnings up over $3 mil was a little hard to swallow, but it's just a show.

I liked the skin they were showing, it was welcome.

Nikki Cox isn't aging that bad, she's only 25 for crying out loud. Wait and see what she looks like in the next ep. Show some patience guys.

I was impressed w/ the lead character, Danny. I thought Josh Duhamel did a fine job w/ the part. Again, his narration wasn't too bad and quite funny in parts actually.

Yes, Vanessa Marcil is still hot as hell.

Great show! Since MNF always ends up in a blowout somehow, the game will already be decided by the time this show comes on out West.

Didn't care for it. My thoughts can be best summed up by viewing the creator's resume below.

Timecop 2 (2003) (written by)
"Las Vegas" (2003) TV Series (creator) (written by)
2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) (characters) (story)
K-9: P.I. (2002) (V) (story) (teleplay)
Fast and the Furious, The (2001) (screen story) (screenplay)
Hollow Man (2000) (story)
K-911 (1999) (V) (written by)
Split Second (1992) (written by)
White Ghost (1988)
Underachievers, The (1987)
I don't think the show is anything special, but the fact of the matter is that absolutely NO ONE in show business has a perfect resume. And it's harder to be a writer than an actor, so if an offer to make something crappy comes your way (such as sequels to bad movies), you have to take it for 1) a paycheck, and 2) the hopes that it opens other doors because you're a team player. And if you're writing a movie for someone else, there will be a lot of guidelines you'll have to follow and after you're done a lot of hands will be all over your script and it might not even resemble what you wrote afterward.

Also, "story by" and "written by" are two different credits.

I had to check out this show simply because I was in Vegas when they were filming the pilot. I was very happy to see that the segment I saw them shoot actually made it to air. I was in downtown Vegas standing beside the Four Queens Casino, right when Danny sees that bunny-slipper-bum and offers him a ride. We actually drove through their set the first time, but hey what do we know we're from KS. Overall I thought the show was good, a little played out in some aspects, but hopefully it will hold strong.

Did anyone else notice a bit of wavy scenes during the show? I was watching in HD; so maybe it's just an HD thing, but I could swear some of the scenes were wavy.

Of course. My brush stroke by referring to his other projects was intended to be less grand and was an attempt to quickly summarize my opinion of the show. I would envision that fans of his prior work would use words such as harmless fluff under the best case scenario to describe them which would accurately convey my purpose for stating it in such a manner as I thought that would be implied.

I didn't find it to crawl time to a stop rather merely standard across the board with the typical flashy style instead of substance. Would make a good 1-2 with The O.C. IMO. Given the plethora of entertainment choices both currently and those that I would like to see it is nothing I would watch instead of one of the ~60 years of unseen films, tv series, etc. There was nothing in the pilot that would lead me to believe there will be more to the series than first meets the eye nor that I found worth watching again.

Hard to judge any show by the pilot, but I enjoyed it enough to keep the season pass.

I think they made it pretty clear that the camera caught the cards on the shuffle so they would know whether the next hand would be a winner - pretty easy to keep track of who gets what card when it is 1 player vs the dealer on a table.

I got back from Vegas last night and this was the first thing I watched off my Replay-TV. Very entertaining. This could be the most easy-on-the-eyes cast in the history of television. Molly Sims .

Kind of interesting that this show will be going head-to-head vs Skin on FOX.

Really? Crap. I don't have the capability to watch 3 shows that air at the same time (MNF, LV, and Skin). Oh well. I guess Skin will lose out by default since I'm not giving up MNF and after this pilot episode, I sure as hell am not going to give up LV.

Of course, MNF is tape delayed here in Hawaii so if I chose to (which I rarely do), I could always just look up the score and skip out on the game.

Finally watched it last night. Great show. I immediately added it to my Season Pass list.

One question:

Spoiler:
Who was the dead guy shown at the beginning and the end of the episode? You know, the one in the desert that Danny called? I must have missed something.

It was his brother. I think his name is Kevin. We don't know why he's laying there in the desert or if he's even dead (though it certainly looks like he's dead). I guess they left that for the 2nd episode.

Ah. I didn't catch the name. Now it makes sense.

The guy's name was Greg, not Kevin, and we are to assume he is Danny's brother.

I liked this show also. I thought it was entertaining. It did remind me a lot of Magnum PI with the narration especially when he did the old "I know what your thinking" that was classic Magnum!

I wanted to like it. I really did. James Caan, Las Vegas, sounded like a good premise. Sadly, I thought it was mediocre at best. It was formulaic, I disliked the narration, the dialogue wasn't very good, the relationships felt forced, the plot was predictable and, most importantly, it didn't have much of that Vegas feel at all. It didn't help that I had just finished reading 'Bringing Down the House', which is an extremely accurate account, albeit from the gamblers perspective, on casinos and the influence of security.

But even for a suspension of disbelief type network drama, it wasn't as cool as Lucky, didn't flash as well as Fastlane [which I couldn't help stylistically comparing it to] and pace itself as well as Keen Eddie, three recent [and cancelled] shows of which captured a lot of the same aspects as this one attempted to do.

Also, James Caan wasn't the bad ass I was hoping he would be. I mean, he's friggin' James Caan! He came off as a contankerous curmudgeon more than a tough as nails boss type. His threats were idle at best and you could tell the main character knew it, despite his insistance he was scared to death of him.

Anyway, it was okay, just pretty forgetable, IMHO. Definately an NBC show.
