"Whoopi"
Wow, no discussion about Whoopi's new show? And by that I mean those awful commercials. They're running quite a bit now. And each one is worse than the last. The writing (and acting) looks pretty embarrassing. Any bets on how long this one will last?

Am I mistaken, or is this show supposed to be an American version of Fawlty Towers? If it is, I wonder if it could possibly produce less than FT meager 12 episodes.

Another TV board had a review from someone who saw either the tapings or screeners of the ep or two. He said it was completely unwatchable; only saving grace, IIRC, was her brother (not sure if that meant the actor or the character). He also pointed out that if it wasn't a star vehicle, the series would have been scrapped or completely retooled by this point.
Knowing how shrewd Whoopi and her people are, I'm assuming she has a great commitment and/or a golden parachute.....

Its starts Sept. 9th. I've only seen a couple of promos, but I have to say it looks horrible. It doesn't look good when they can't find one funny moment to put in a promo.
This show won't last long, but I think NBC will give it more time than say "Emeril" got. Whoopi's star power alone should get her a few extra weeks. After all she is an "Oscar-winning acress".
