Shark Week
Has anyone been watching Shark Week this week on Discovery? I've always loved Shark Week, and this week has been one of the best so far (IMO)! Here's my breakdown:
Sunday: "Anatomy of a Shark Bite" This kind of freaked me out. I wasn't sure if it would be any good, or what the pacing would be, especially since it was 2 hours long. But I found myself completely absorbed in the story of a shark expert who lost his entire calf while doing a documentary of Bull Sharks, then wanted to keep working to find out the details of a shark's bite (ie- pressure of the bite, etc). The documentary also featured footage of the only Great White attack caught on film. This is the one that really disturbed me- hearing the "real" screams of a woman being attacked...it wasn't like the movies!
Monday: "Monster Garage" This didn't really do anything for me. The boys built a "shark boat" equipped with a one man cage for watching sharks. It was a typical MH episode, except in the end, they saw no sharks.....
Tuesday: "Diary of a Shark Man" This was awesome!! This crazy guy (Manny something) in the Fla Keys goes underwater, equipped with only snorkel gear, a knife, and large bait. He scrapes at the bait with his knife to draw sharks near, then HAND feeds them!! It was incredible watching Manny with the Maco shark, one of the most dangerous species.... I'd watch this one again!
Wednesday: "RoboShark" I didn't see this one...didn't interest me.
Thursday: "Jaws of the Pacific" Another good documentary about the Great White. This showed alot of live, close up footage of the Great White, mostly captured by a 2 or 3 man submersible.
"Sharks Under Glass" This doc included Heidi Klum and included mini documentaries on aquariums around the country that are the home of sharks. Heidi also dove with sharks, and it showed her progress from never trying scuba to swimming with sharks!
Friday: "Shark Roulette" I'll post a synopsis afterwords......
I definitely recommend checking it out!
