It's Londo's beverage of choice, so nothing vital. But, it'll show up again.

Edit to add: I believe it was first mentioned in the second season episode "Knives".

Bandoman 08-15-03 02:02 PM

I guess I'll remember details like that the second time around.

Sure - Bravari for everyone!

Nice one, das!

I have a season 4 episode 1 tape all ready to send out.

Uh oh ... what do I have to show? I'm all for dancing on the tables, but I'm not showing anything with Wizdar in the room.

das

elektra 08-15-03 04:24 PM

Well you do have those tentacles? ;)

das Monkey 08-15-03 04:27 PM

 Don't play cards with me when the tentacles are loose.

das

Wizdar 08-15-03 04:48 PM

Cards?

Did somebody say cards?

Heh heh heh. ;) (I can’t do a search from where I’m posting. Look for “poker” in Otter.)

I didn’t see any mention of beer. I’m not coming all the way from the left coast to not see das’s unmentionables if there’s no  .

C’mon, das. I promise not to look.

I might snicker a little, but I won’t look. :)

elektra 08-15-03 04:54 PM

Wizdar - dude, read my first post on this; I will be bringing beer and not that scudweiser crap. Some good micros.

IC_Freeze 08-15-03 06:21 PM

ok so I've watched the first 4 discs of season 3 now (hey Bandoman isn't the only one who hasn't watched the whole series yet).
My impression is that this is the best season so far. Just about every episode was great. I was talking to a co-worker yesterday (I work for a computer related company) and asked
him if he has seen B5 before. He said no and didn't really know what it was, though he's apparently a big Star trek fan. Anyways, so I was telling him that he should check it B5 out if he liked Star trek and he asked me why? I told him because Star trek is nothing compared to B5 :) So at least now he's interested and wants to burrow my season 1 set to see for himself though honestly I'm not sure if season 1 is a good hooker.
Anyways there was one thing so far about season 3 that i've been a bit bothered by.

Spoiler:

The time travel bit seemed to weaken the story and overall doesn't seem well thought out since there's too many loopholes. I mean B4 from the future saved the Limbari from the past? hmmm that doesn't seem to make sense, even for a sci-fi show.

Plus, I was surprised about the changing attitude of the Bester psi guy but I guess I'll find out later if he's the real deal.
As for the doctor and his stem pack addiction, I think that's just a side story that can be dropped.

Chew 08-15-03 06:45 PM

Check out this thread for a spoiler tag guide.

B5 not well thought out?? That's unpossible!!

:hscratch: Limbari?

Well...

(spoilers for War Without End)
Spoiler:
What exactly did you find to be the loopholes? The only major one is how the B4 crew found Zathras. In Babylon Squared, they claimed to have found him in a conference room after a timeflash, but in War Without End, he was just ambushed while rummaging for spare parts.

I thought that the whole plot worked out rather well. Not only did Babylon 4 going back to the previous war allow the Minbari to defeat the Shadows, but it allowed B5 to survive. Remember, the timeflash that Sinclair saw in Babylon Squared (where Garabaldi was firing the minigun at the invisible things) coincides perfectly with Ivanova's distress call from the future (both bits mentioned Garabaldi rigging the fusion reactor to blow). It's not like Sheridan and company did all that to alter the past. It was a situation where the past would have gotten altered if they DIDN'T do anything.

And as for Bester, I'm not gonna say anything...

Jlbkwrm 08-16-03 05:18 AM

I'm trying to hold off most of my comments until the episode discussions start off, but there's one thing in Messages from Earth that's so trivial I'll probably forget by the time it comes up in rotation:
Spoiler:
It took me a second to recognize her, but I had to laugh when Francie rats out Sheridan. Something about familiar faces turning up in unexpected places always amuses me.

Bandoman 08-16-03 09:15 AM

I know we're not starting the discussion until next week, but as I said earlier I'm not going to be around much of the week. I just watched "Dust to Dust", and I found it very sad.

Spoiler:
I think Kosh was telling G'Kar that the Narn race is to be sacrificed to save many others, although I'm not sure he interpreted it that way - I think he interpreted Kosh's statements to mean that he, G'Kar, must sacrifice himself to save the Narn. It appears that G'Kar is on his way to becoming a religious leader as well as a civic and military leader. I was almost in tears, because I really like the Narn (as I'm sure JMS intended) and it seems so unfair that they should suffer this fate at the hands of the duplicitous Centauri.

The season rocks, and I haven't even gotten to the real wham! episodes yet.

If das doesn't promise to dance naked on the table, I'm cancelling the party.

Wizdar 08-16-03 11:31 AM

OK. Here’s the deal. If das wants to , I’ll leave the room. For the sake of the party.

But I want pics. ;)

elektra, my bad. But, when I think of a lady "bringing the beer," I don’t normally think of the copious amounts usually required.

Of course, I could be wrong. And frequently am.

Seeker 08-16-03 11:37 AM

Bandoman - re the Narn and G'Kar - G'Kar sure has changed since the beginning of the first season, but then again, in another sense, he hasn't....

Katsulas does an AWESOME job in this role, as does Jurasik.

Seeker 08-16-03 11:40 AM

Wow - I just went to www.b5.com to make sure I spelled Jurasik's name correctly.

DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU WANT TO BE UNSPOILED!!!!! Fifth season stuff all over the place and answers to most of the questions. STAY AWAY unless you've seen it all.

Jlbkwrm 08-17-03 06:09 AM

Having just finished a marathon-viewing of the DVDs (Oh, come on, I dare you to try stopping if you don't have to), I feel compelled to say this about Z'ha'dum:

Spoiler:
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I mean, setting aside the Sheridan part, there was the completely out-of-left-field Garibaldi thing and... Gah. Gahgahgah.

Bandoman 08-17-03 07:08 AM

"Messages From Earth" - wow.

dstrauss 08-17-03 12:56 PM

Oh man, Bando is thisclose to experiencing the rapture that is "Severed Dreams." I'd give good money to be there when he watches it and has the same "YEAH!" moment we all had way back when. It's perhaps the greatest line in all of B5.

Yup, still get goosebumps watching that episode's last 20ish minutes.
