Do any shows predominantly take place outside?

I can't think of any! Why aren't there any?

Because its take longer and costs more money to shoot/light/prep outdoors than the controlled environment of a studio.

Last time I checked, StarGate SG-1 has a lot of out door scenes.

Yeah you're totally right, I forgot about Baywatch!

Also, in response to clemente - you can create outdoors inside a studio - just don't know why more studios don't do that.

All the Nature shows.
Along with the dimwit alligator guy.
Plus E's Wild On....Survivor...Amazing Race.
Many sporting events. Plus the non-sport golf.

Cops
Road Rules
Sex and the City (well, they sort of split scenes in between indoor and out doors)

That's all I can think of, but really, most people don't spend all their time outdoors. Indoors is good!

Gilligan's Island?

Sorry. Reread the question. You're absolutely right.

I know it was filmed inside, but it *takes place* outside.

King of the Hill has lots of outdoor scenes, but it's a cartoon, so that probably doesn't count.

I'm guessing most of the old weterns (Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Big Valley, etc.) had a large number of outdoor scenes.

I thought of that too. I think that was one of the reasons for the laugh track. too much trouble of having an outside audience.
