"AbFab" Season 5 coming soon
For those "AbFab" fans (and those who didn't know). From BBC.com:
Series 5 is coming. You thought it would never happen but darlings it's on its way! A brand new series is currently being shot, this very second, at London's Television Centre.
Saffy returns having been away for several months. Edina has been coping on her own but without Saffy's watchful eye, work has fallen low on her list of priorities and the house has seen tidier days - after all there is just so much shopping to do. Edina's now a CPR - celebrity PR and Patsy continues to work at Jeremy's - a new concept fashion store - but wants Eddy to get her work as a celebrity stylist.
Guest stars are rumoured to include Elton John and Emma Bunton.

should I rent (or probably buy if I can't find it) the first season? The only other british comedy I've watched are coupling and monty python and they are both riots.

YIKES! I hope it is better than series 4 which ended up being more of a re-hash of series 1-3!
I was hoping after seeing the special episode "Gay" which was MILES above anything in series 4 that Saunders would shoot episodes as great ideas came to her for new stories (as she and Dawn French seem to be doing with French & Saunders).
Still any AbFab is better than none!

Series 4 comes in its own 2 disc set, and was not as good as Series 1-3, but still had its great moments. (Also contains the pilot for "Mirrorball"....another show Jennifer Saunders was going to do, but after making the pilot decided that she really just wanted to do a 4th Series of Ab Fab).
There were two Ab Fab films/specials, both which are coming out on one dvd on September 30th. "Absolutely Fabulous: Absolutely Special" contains "The Last Shout" (occurs after Series 3) and "Ab Fab in NY" [alternately titled "Gay"] (occurs after Series 4).

Just checked my TIVO all programs guide and at this time, "AbFab" is only running on BBCAmerica. But it does pop up on Comedy Central (still) from time to time.
