^ Give B5 a shot - but judging by what you wrote, I'd say that you'd be more of a Farscape fan.

well I started watching Babylon 5 today. I watched The Gathering and the first episode of Season 1.

In another thread people said to watch the episodes in the order that they are presented on the dvds (which seems to be the order in which episodes were aired in the US). This website says otherwise though:
http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/countr...er/eplist.html
The ordering is different in places and it says "JMS has given the ordering for seasons one and two his blessing."

For comparison the US airing order is here: http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/countries/us/eplist.html

What are people's opinions on which order is better? I don't mind shuffling discs around to watch the episodes in the best possible order.

I watched them in the order in which they are presented on the DVDs, and I have no complaints.

Does anyone know when Season 4 is being released?

I have a question. Why are some of the characters that were in the pilot suddenly not in the series. Most noticeable was the Takashima character. She had a major role in the pilot (and was a high ranking crew member) and then is inexpicably not in the series (and it seems by looking at the IMDB, she doesn't resurface). I'm just curious as to why this was never explained....
anyone know?

Within the series, there are reasons given for all the characters missing.

Outside the series, all of those people who left can't act.

lol, ok thanks for that.
I guess it will be explained eventually then? I've only seen the first two episodes of season 1 so far.

Thanks.

The simplest explanation for some moves (like Takashimia) is that in "real life" - people get transferred from military bases to other places - i.e. things change, people change.

Unlike Star Trek, for example, where no one ever gets promoted or transferred....(more or less)

Pat Tallman (Lyta) didn't return for the series after appearing in the pilot because her agent asked for too much money.

The pilot, "The Gathering," was filmed and shown one year before the first season was produced.

Certain actors didn't return for the regular series.

But, you'll notice that the two people who saw Kosh disappeared from the station.

Hmmm...
