I think Dana's noms were risky but quite smart. She is breaking ties with the original alliance, but they wanted to get rid of her anyway. Dana would have been the first choice to evict if it had come down to the original alliance only in the house.
But Dana is also the first choice to be evicted in her new alliance, too. Jee, Robert, Justin & Jun want her gone just as much as Dave, Jack, Erika, Nathan and Ali do.

Before she made the nominations, David told her that Jee, Robert & Justin had agreed the previous week to boot her next. But when she went running to Jee and asked him, he denied it. She chose to believe his lie, and not David's truth.

Absolutely no one in the house likes or trusts her. The Ex's are merely using her to shift the balance of power. Once she's served their purpose, she will be O-U-T. And, if one of the original alliance win HOH, it'll be even sooner than they originally planned.

Yes, but they can't do away with her till they have the numbers to do it, and that's several weeks away. As we've seen in the past and just again this week, things changed dramatically in the matter of one week.

This was a brilliant move on Dana's part, she knew her head was first on the block once the X's were removed and she changed the numbers more to her favor.

I think what has the possibility of making this BB very interesting is that we have two major alliance's almost equal in size dueling it out, instead of four or five mini alliances. Every HOH is so important now.

But the veto has been rendered useless for now. If someone is veteo'd, then Dana would just put up another member of their alliance. If your side doesn't get HOH, then you will be losing a member.

At least for now! :)

What a great episode.
Dana is one crazy woman, but I loved her choices. What Jack was saying to her was true, but he wanted her out just as much as anyone did last week. I hated how he was trying make it seem as if the Ex group was the only group out to get her. Him getting nominated was awesome. Allison getting put up was awesome too, only because I dislike her so much. And she's butt ugly. Someone should punch her in the nose, maybe it'll right itself out.

About Jun:
I thnk she's freaking hilarious. She isn't saying all that stuff about her seriously. She's being so facetious, but you only get to see the "good" stuff she says about herself. She reminds me so much of a friend of mine, same attitude and way of talking about herself. Great fun!

Anyhow, Bye Bye Allison!!!

What's so funny is that Justin psychologically has to win at everything, and presents himself as the biggest threat (if Dana wasn't so bamboozled by Justin, she'd understand what Jack was talking about to her in the HoH room). Justin's need to win will be his downfall. I don't think you can be a frontrunner from start to finish in this game (like Justin has been).

You have to play it like Jun is playing for the first half, and hope you can piss off less people as you get further in the game. Also, Dana wouldn't listen to the sense that Jun was making in telling Dana that she should stick to the original alliance and pick off these Ex-men because she could skate through the next few weeks instead of painting a huge big X on her forehead by cutting her ties with the original alliance. That the Ex-men got so lucky as to get Dana as HoH this week will most likely be the deciding factor in how the rest of the game is played.

But it's pretty amazing how fortunes can turn from week to week, and that's what makes this a compelling show to watch all summer long.

You are correct that Jun is playing a good game.
AKA, playing both sides without them really letting on.

At some point you have to form a sub-alliance. An alliance of eight strong is TOO BIG towards mid-game.
And that is where Jack made the mistake with his talk with Dana.
I only got the tv version so I'm not sure how it went with the live feeds..................but
It was obvious Jack was showing Justin as a THREAT so told Dana let's get him NOW.
And explained to her she was the best competitor within the "alliance" so she would beat all them.
However, it doesn't take a genious (although Dana is far from that) to figure out that well then Jack is also saying.........
"if he wants Justin out because he is a strong competitor, then once it's down to the original alliance he'll want Dana out first" and she can't win HOH two weeks in a row.
Jack overplayed his hand there.

Their main mistake was trying to get Jee to put Dana up last week. They should have kept quiet and just voted Michelle out anyway since she was an ex. Why the need to put Dana up then?! Overplayed too early.
And it got back to her. It was shown she wouldn't last in the original alliance.

Now, again just from the tv, Dana also didn't play perfectly with "joining" the ex's. I don't know how much conversation was detailed. But she should have started making DEALS and NOT
just make a decision "for her".
She should have made a deal with Jun, for Jun to continue to play both sides, but basically THROW HOH, and in the end be with the ex's and Dana. She deal with Jun to take her as far as possible.
And roughly make the same deal with Justin.
And make a looser deal with Robert and Jee for "saving" them this week, for them to never nominate her unless it got down to 3/4 people.

Also she should have gone to the original alliance (Jun, and pick a few others as well) and explain that she doesn't feel strong in their "alliance" and knows she'd be first out when it got down to those 7 people.
So she is protecting herself in getting that alliance "smaller" but still LARGER than the 3 EX people left.
So she isn't LEAVING all of them, just needs it to be a smaller alliance. This is a weak argument, but if someone like Jun or maybe pick another one or two, if they won HOH SOON they may still nominate the ex's and NOT DANA.

She was in a tough position anyway, and still in a very weak one to win. But she did make the better move than what many think.
Just blindly sticking with the 7, she knew she was the weak link (due to the rumours of last week) in that group.

From the live feeds:

Spoiler:

Nate won POV. He's totally playing with Dana's mind by not talking with her on what he has planned (whether he will use it or not).

Allison has basically convinced her alliance that she's got a photographic memory in that she remembers all the details of the house, she says that she's always had this ability. She's also convinced Nate that she's got a better shot at winning HoH than Jack does.

The common wisdom is that if Nate uses POV to save Allison, then Dana would put up Dave.

Dave/Nate/Allison/Jack/Erika all know that Jun has been playing both sides, and have basically acknowledged that both Jun and Dana are lost to the Ex-men.

The Ex-men are super-tight as a final 3 group. They are just using Dana and Jun to get them there.

Nate does want to use the POV to save Allison, but he also wants to keep Dave in the house. The problem is Jun, who holds the deciding vote (the 3 Ex-Men would vote to boot out Dave, and Allison/Nate/Erika would boot Jack). Nate is going to work on Erika to try and convince her that Allison is more useful than Jack in their alliance against the Ex-Men and Jun and Dana.

Dave's funniness is the only thing that would keep him in the house because he keeps things fun and lively.

If Nate is really enamored with Allison, Dave's a goner. Allison has been making out with Nate and sleeping in the same bed with him, so there's a better than 50-50 chance that Nate will use the POV to save Allison.

Nate and Allison also had a one-on-one date due to one of them winning a luxury competition. Jun got a little hurt from the competition.

Dana, of course, is freaking out about Nate not talking with her regarding his POV decision.

Justin has been snuggling up to Dana. Justin's such a weasel. Justin did find out about the Original 8 alliance when Dana spilled the beans to him.

The whole house got drunk, and Allison tried to seduce Justin in the hot tub, but he got out of that situation. There was some attempt of candle-wax on Justin's chest by Allison, if I read the live feeds correctly. Allison did spill some of the beans to Justin while drunk. Justin was also slurring his words and not all that in control of what he was talking and did so in a loud manner. Justin had a good laugh at Allison's expense over her throwing herself at him in the hot tub.

Jack's in the dark about Nate using the POV for now. But I think Jack will stay regardless of what Nate does, just by being who he is, a non-threat, even though he creeps out the other alliance menbers with his non-threatening approach/dialogue with each of them and as a group.

During the day, Jee was asleep outside on a reclining lounge chair, and the others tried to grab his microphone first, and then toss him into the pool. They tried twice, but didn't quite succeed either times.

Veto spoiler from Sunday's feeds:

Nathan has used the Veto to take Ali off the block.
Dana put up Dave in her place (but is pissed off).

If the posts are spoilers posted before the next show, it's common courtesy to spoilerize the events inside the house before that next show.

Anything intersting happening in the house the last 24 hrs??

Is Dana still "pissed awf"?? :D

dek 07-29-03 06:28 AM

One thing I forgot to mention right after Scott got the boot was how scared Dana was in the house. WTF? She's a karate instructor at her real job, if I was a student there I would have lost all confidence after hearing that. Dumb broad.

I think she's a manager, not an instructor.

Patman 07-29-03 08:19 AM

Well, as of Monday morning:

Spoiler:
Jack/Dave are trying to move the spotlight off whoever gets the boot and onto Allison/Nate. So depending on whether Jack or Dave gets the boot, the survivor has offered to team up with the Ex-Men and their chicas (Dana and Jun) to get rid of Allison/Nate because of Nathan using the veto to save Allison. Will this tactic work, who knows.

I expect Dave to be gone Wednesday because he's more of a perceived threat than Jack. But Dave has been working the Ex-men and company just in case he can persuade Jun to keep him in the house because he's funnier and less creepy than Jack. Jun's the swing vote, who she votes against will be shown the door because I expect Erika/Nate/Allison to vote to boot Jack to keep the stronger Dave in the house and on their side. Jee/Robert/Justing will vote to boot Dave, so that leaves Jun the pivotal vote.

Dana lives in a perpetual state of being "pissed awf". Listening to her on the feeds, she seems to say it every 3rd or 4th sentence. If I were in the house, I'd want to get rid of her for that reason alone (in addition to many others).

Anything intersting happening in the house the last 24 hrs??
Aside from strategizing and back-stabbing, this is a very boring bunch of hamsters. When they're not plotting one another's demise, they're just sitting around playing cards or ping pong or working out. <yawn> I long for the days of Marcellas, Amy, Chiara, Danielle, et al. who actually had entertaining conversations outside of just playing the game.

Spoiler:
If you can believe what the houseguests are saying to one another, it looks like Dave will be the one to go. The evil ones (Dana, Jun, Justin, Robert & Jee) were talking last night in the HOH room, and -- though they all seem to like Dave better than Jack -- they feel that Jack will be fairer to them on the jury. Supposedly Erika has agreed to vote out Dave, too, and they've also apparently gotten Jack's commitment that, if they save him this week, that he'll team up with them to go after Nate and Ali next. (Though they also told him that they might put him up again as a pawn against either Nate or Ali, so that if the veto is used again, they could replace the vetoed member with the other one.)

However, there are little hints that the alliance is not as strong as it appears. Both Jun & Justin made comments that they felt sorry for Nathan's current ostracized status -- which pissed Dana off -- and Robert & Jee both really like having Dave in the house.

Everyone agrees that the next HOH is crucial, though Dana thinks they should have no problem winning all HOH competitions from here on out.

More nuttiness from Monday:

Spoiler:

Robert should be a pitchman for Viagra because he was detailing his experiences with the drug in explicit terms to whoever would listen to him, it seems.

Dana and her posse of Ex-Men really want Allison and Nate out of the house. Dana is still playing the "I'm pissed awf" card because Nate took Allison off the eviction block.

Erika is making deals with Dana and Jun to help them go after Nate and Allison. Erika wants to give Dave a pity vote and the rest aren't concerned about such a vote, so they gave her the okay.

It's still a toss-up on who goes out Wednesday, but it's probably now 60/40 that Dave goes out.

Jack is going to use the hate for Allison and Nate to make some deals with the other side (just covering his bases inside the house, though his real alliance is still with Erika), but he's really hoping that either Allison or Nate get HoH and puts up Justin and Dana.

Otherwise, if the Ex-Men get HoH, it's a given that Nate and Allison are going up on the eviction block. Jack and Erika probably going to survive another 2 weeks by playing the 2 sub-groups off each other. Very nice game-playing by them.

Everyone knows that Jun is the covert mastermind who sees the bigger picture given that most of the others go on emotion and don't think about the larger game ramifications.
