The Emmys really need to shake it up. I get sick and tired of seeing the same thing every year. Other than the HBO shows I hardly watch anything else nominated. But I have watched atleast some episodes of those shows and have to say that I have seen better. (That 70s show is easily funnier than any of the comedy nominees) |

I think that Six Feet Under is over-rated as well. I do watch it, but I don't see why it is so critically acclaimed. I would prefer Krause back on Sports Night.

It does seem like the Emmys nominate the exact same shows every year. At least they gave some love to Curb Your Enthusiasm and Alias. Frankly, I would've preferred seeing Alias get nominated for Best Drama Series over 24. The former had a much better 2nd season IMO.
I'd normally be pissed about Buffy getting only one nod(and in the FX category at that), but honestly, its final year was also its worst ever. Now Angel on the other hand got royally screwed. Ok, I know it's a pipe dream to ever think that the Emmy voters would nominate it in the major categories, even though it deserved it. But hell, you'd think it would've gotten something! How about the brilliant fight scene choreography in nearly every episode(Gunn vs. the bodyguards in "Players" being the standout)? What about Best Makeup for the Beast? Best FX? Then again, I'm starting to wonder if it's not really the Emmys at fault but rather the WB. Not only did Angel get the shaft, but so did Gilmore Girls and Smallville. Does that network do anything to promote their shows? |

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think it's ridiculous that more than one actor from the same show can be nominated in the same category.
Choices are difficult to make, but they should just pick ONE actor from one show per category. No more nominating three people from the West Wing or two people from the Sopranos for, say, supporting actor. That's an insult to other programs and actors in saying that no one else is as good or did as well of a job this past TV season, when that's just not the case at all. |
No love for The Wire which is disappointing. Hopefully next year it will get the recognition it deserves. The second season has been at least as good as the first so far.

Well, the Emmy's continue to be a total joke to me if for no other reason than their lack of nominees from the WB. I love SFU and I love CYE, but the 2 best shows on TV are Angel and Gilmore Girls.
Also, only 1 nom for The Shield, Scrubs, and Buffy is ridiculous. Buffy didn't have a good year, but there are definitely some categories it should be nominated in. And The Shield and Scrubs are probably the 5th and 6th best shows on TV after Angel, Gilmore, SFU, and CYE. Of course the best animated shows on TV, South Park and Adult Swim, were shut-out too. |

Wow, "Law & Order" didn't get a nom. That breaks its streak after being nominated for 11 years in a row. (12 years would have been a record. )

It really did not deserve a nom last year. This year, it was slightly better but the Academy definitely made the right call to leave it off. I prefer SVU now as well. |

OK, as much as I love the show, is it really fair that "Sex and the City" got nominated when it was only on for a mere 8 episodes!? Also, "Friends"??? This was the absolute worst season ever. And quite possibly the worst sitcom all year. Embarrassingly bad. "Will & Grace" was also pretty terrible 3/4 of the time. I was curious if (the incredible) Rachel Griffiths would get a leading or supporting nomination given she was only on for about 20 minutes the entire season. I think Peter Kraus should win best actor. Agree with the person who asked if anyone thought "Raymond" was better than "Scrubs". It's not. I don't know why I'll even watch this year. You just know "The West Wing" is going to win again. Yawn.

And most of all what I don't get is how Allison Janney was bumped to Best Actress in Drama (as last year.) The four supporting actors get as much screen time as she does. And to think. Wellz... I'm pulling for Curb winning everything it's nominated for (it's so far and away the funniest show on TV that this SHOULD be a given), and also for Krause, either Ambrose or Griffiths (preferably Ambrose, but it doesn't make much difference to me), and writing/directing/drama of Six Feet Under. I'm still not blown away by Ruth (can never remember her real name), so Edie Falco would have to be my choice there.
Other than that - all I really care about is that Letterman/The Late Show wins everything he was nominated for and Robin Williams' tired act gets shut out, and that preachy *****, The West Wing goes home Emmy... uh, -less. Other than that, I don't care :) Oh yeah - Question for the experts! Why wasn't CYE nominated in the writing category?!? Is it perhaps b/c show much of the show is improvised (according to interviews I've seen, all of it is) that they don't nominate any "writers?" |
