Monk - 7/11/03

I figured that the one Monk Returns thread can't go on forever, so here goes:

"Mr. Monk Goes to the Ballgame"
When a CEO and his wife are murdered, Monk tries to determine whether a baseball player may be involved.

I thought it was a good episode, but I'm really starting to hate the music. The Randy Newman theme song is getting on my nerves, and during those dramatic moments, that damn cheesy piano music is horrible.

I admit, though, next week's episode looks more interesting.

How many Baseball/Home Run sceens can you find that related to the Mark McGuire/Barry Bonds HR hitting over the past few years.

I counted 5.

Good episode. I figured it all out early on, but it was fun to watch things unravel.

The best part was Monk as the umpire and when the kid slipped on home plate.

Not quite the ballgame I was expecting, but a good episode. Easy to figure out even when they didn't introduce the killer too early.

I agree about the annoying theme song - it really needs to go.

Monk is fun, but as always its so fun to pick holes in the city shots.

they start off in the car on Columbus heading West, which would take you towards Ocean Beach, and with 3 miles left of the 32 miles they are on the Embarcadero, which is basically 1/2 mile east on Columbus from where they started.

I know the GPS was reprogrammed, but I think I would realise if I drove around in a circle.

and the killer
Spoiler:
is the intern from Six Feet under

I thought the same thing about the GPS, but it was a great show.

Not a great episode, IMO. I was able to figure out who was the killer very early on, which I can rarely do with Monk. Still a so so Monk is better than most of the other stuff on TV over the summer...

Ditto. I think I figured out this one faster than any other episode. Still, like you said, it is a great show.

For me this Monk episode was more of a comedy than a mystery/drama. I honestly laughed through out the entire show. First it was the poor kid that fell. LMAO. Second was when Monk couldn't decide what to call the pitch. Third, was the pneumonic device... "Girls Can't Eat Fifteen Pizzas"... I was laughing so hard when the housekeeper responded with, "maybe they got stomach aches...from all the pizzas", and lastly was when Monk tried to clean the smudge off the baseball.
What do you guys think?

Thanks freedexter

I didn't make the connection that the pneumonic device refered to a license plate.... though I could tell it was a pneumonic device.

Easy to figure out, made even easier by the fact that we briefly see on the little tv in the police station, someone catching the ball. You, on a TV budget, do not shoot shots like that unless they become important later on.

I thought the Umpire Monk part dragged. The stuff with trying to figure out what the pizza line ment was funny though!
