As for this season so far, can't say I'm loving it. Though the Ex Factor provided some initial dramatics, the live feeds have been pretty damn boring so far. The "sameness" of this cast (of mostly 20-something singles), and the fact that 10 of the houseguests have pre-existing relationships, has altered the usual BB dynamics.
I had hoped that Nathan's nominations would shake up the show, but they're about as uninteresting as they could be. Of course, we have the Power of Veto yet to come, so I guess there's still some hope.

Yeah, the 3 without ex's are more in a position to lie their way through the entire process without having an ex call them on it.
So, after more thinking about it, I'm not sure the X-Factor edition of Big Brother is going to make the game any better, and could make it more stale.
Where's the African American representation on this season's cast?
Do we have a gay person in the house this time around?
Again, this just seems like a 3 month long version of Blind Date, the Hell Edition!

Let's not forget that Big Brother is at its most boring in the first few weeks. It's not until those initial superficial alliances are broken that the show starts really getting good.

The first week of BB2 brought us Nicole's seemingly hopeless (but ultimately successful) fight against the forces of Chilltown to save herself from eviction.
And, in the first week of BB3, Marcellas was in a similar position, only to be saved by Gerry's use of the Veto (which resulted in Laurie, the "decoy", being evicted instead).
I haven't seen anything from this cast (so far) that comes even close to that level of drama.

What was with the ex's of the 2 nominated hg's getting mad that they were nominated? The 8 were so adamant about the ex's getting nominated and when it happens, they're pissed off. So hilarious.

Had to laugh at Allison saying that Scott was bi-polar. If anyone in the house has more mood swings than her, I haven't seen it yet. First, she's hysterical when the Ex Factor is revealed, crying about what her current boyfriend is going to think. Then she starts getting cuddly with Nathan. Then, during the Truth or Dare session (as shown on the live feeds), she confesses that she'd sleep with Justin again at least once. Then, she acts all warm & fuzzy towards Justin, while still snuggling with Nathan on the side. Then, she's crying about her boyfriend's reaction again. She's definitely not very emotionally stable.
But Scott is scary. The other night on the feeds, he was laying in the dark by himself in one of the bedrooms, talking into his microphone, saying over & over how much he hated Dana. I have no idea where that came from, but he was obsessively going on & on -- it was almost like he was chanting a mantra. Really, really creepy.

Sigh...I dunno. After reading the live feeds for a few days, and seeing the 3 hours on CBS, I can't say that I'm at all enthused about this season as much anymore.
I think some of it has to do with the "baggage-enhanced" rancor that the producers inflicted with the eX-Factor this season. The game has fundamentally been changed at its root (the idea that you put a bunch of stranger into a house for the summer, and then let them find the most sociological/psychological way to outmaneuver all the others in the house). Now, almost everyone knows all of the ex's business and vice-versa. Having someone provide the others with "da scoop" or the "411 drop" on you undermines the game in such a way that it becomes a baggage-laden moanfest of epic proportions.
Sure, you get to squeeze some compassion pity footage when a nominated person has their ex say that they didn't want THEIR own ex out so early, or some stupid protective response mode overcomes the more disturbing houseguests like Scott (over Amanda's nomination).
Will part of the the original Elite 8 really swap out ex's for those that they like to create another sub-alliance? At this point, I'm not sure I going to care one way or another.
I doubt any alliance that large can last, not only the personality challenges ("shady" seems to be the key word, though those using are just as "shady" so go figure.), but the HoH and the PoV competitions.
But at this point, I would like to see Jun/Allison/Nathan gone soon from the game. I'm already tired of them, and it's only been a week.

I don't think this season is going to be as good, but considering how much I liked the 3 previous seasons, it has some pretty tough competition. I'm always for something different, so I like the ex-factor thing as an experiment, but I hope they don't do it again.

Call me the eternal optimist.
I just remeber that after a few weeks of BB3, I didn't like it as much as BB2, but as it went on it became as compelling.
I'm not ready to write it off yet. It's not a scripted series (to a certain extent) where people's motivations and deceptiveness (or lack of) can be corrected by next weeks show.

I have no one to root for in this season's cast. I dislike just about everyone one of them. Maybe I'll root for Jack, just to see how long he can last before the young-ish clique boots him out.

Just like you said, there is NO ONE to root for. No one even particularly likeable. In having to get all of these people's ex's, they really were limited in casting.
Even the people that weren't likeable in the past seasons had sides of them that were compelling.
I'm sure someone will emerge, but there were several people last year alone that were extremely likeable and interesting, that at one time or another, I actually rooted for.
I can't possibly remember all the names right now (another bad sign), but Jun, Jee, Allison, Scott, Dana, and Robert are pretty awful. The FBI guy and Erika are boring. Nathan, the HOH?, is arrogant and not in a good, sweet, flirty way. Michelle is cute but way too young for me and that's just going to lead to the child porn plotline. That's about it. I might like Erika right now, but she's already put a huge target on her head.
And the editing was horrible. How did Erika even get so disliked? It almost seemed out of nowhere that everyone started saying they didn't trust her. Finally, Allison is going to make Amy seem like a walk in the park.

I don't know if I can wait until Tuesday to see what this is about. I've very tempted to read the spoilers/click the link. Oooh oooh oooh...
