Maxim's 100 Sexiest tonight on NBC..

http://www.ajc.com/saturday/content/...fd12300e2.html

and it's not showing in Atlanta

Sexy women too hot for WXIA
Steve Murray - Staff
Saturday, June 14, 2003

The skin-loving folks behind Maxim magazine supplement their June issue with a one-hour NBC special at 9 tonight, celebrating 100 of the women they deem the world's most sizzle-icious. "Maxim's Hottest 100" features Christina Aguilera, Giselle Bundchen, Kelly Clarkson, Elisha Cuthbert, Shania Twain, Kelly Hu, LeAnn Rimes, Carmen Electra and Trista Rehn.

And you don't get to see 'em!

That's because local affiliate WXIA has decided not to air the show.

"We didn't feel it was appropriate," says WXIA station manager Bob Walker. "It's not consistent with NBC's emphasis on quality programming."

Instead, the station plans to broadcast the Atlanta Falcons special "Pass the Magic," followed at 9:30 by a half-hour special on the University of Georgia SEC championship football team.

Makes sense. After all, nothing says "football" quite like temperatures pushing 90 and thunderstorms every afternoon.

The substitute programming airs following a "Fear Factor" (couples pass live roaches mouth to mouth) and before a "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (focusing on the rape and murder of a judge's daughter). There's quality programming for you!

But hey, WXIA isn't alone in the local pre-emption game. Nearly six months since "Jimmy Kimmel Live" started, ABC affiliate WSB still hasn't aired a single episode of the late-night chatfest.

yup. we in atlanta are not mature enough to make our own decisions. The AJC actually has it right about something. Fear Factor is okay, but Maxim aint? I wasn't gonna watch it anyway, but I would like to have the option of watching it. And why don't we have Jimmy Kimmel? stupid Atlanta affiliates

Maybe you should ask Fred Durst or Carson Daly.

So many things wrong with that list. So, Charlies Angels (Why the hell are they an entry? probably because none of them could have made the list by themself) and Tatu are hotter than Monica Belluci and Salma Hayek?

Right.

Except if you're Jolene Blalock, who should be a lot higher than 97 and is much better looking than people like t.A.T.U. And what the hell is freaking Norah Jones doing on the list. It's like they're on crack over on Maxim.

I had this magazine for a little while since Shania Twain was on it. Not a bad list, but there are a few that I totally disagree with (forget CA, what the hell was Avril Lavigne doing on the list?). I liked the pop-up video like comments as well...

Disagree with what you said about Jolene & Norah...but i'm willing to compromise if we can get t.A.t.U the HELL off the list...

...and why is Jaime Presley so far down the list?

I didn't watch either, not because I didn't want to, but because I live in Augusta, Ga and apparently NBC is above trash like this (although For Love or Money seems to consistently get on the air). These affiliates down here just make me so mad. I don't understand why they get to choose what we watch or not. Was there a massive negative community response to this program or something?

On the bright side, at least it wasn't another Monica Kaufman Closeup, like WSB throws at us when they refuse to air something.

Well, just to thrown this into "wanna see luridness" territory, I was at Heroes Con this weekend, and definitely didn't get my fill of scantily clad babes walking about in various states of undress like I do at Dragon Con, but it was good to get in some convention conditioning (all the walking and poor eating schedule/selection) for Dracon Con come Labor day weekend.

Another great picture of the #1 person on their list... I never considered her at all attractive, but now she is just grotesque.
