Need Help Recalling 80's TV Show

Back in the 80's there was a short run show called something like "The Wizzard".

It featured a 'wizzard' type midget who had a 'magic bag' and he invented things and played the drums and stuff like that.

Was I seriously suffering from a childhood trauma or did this show actually exist?

I believe it was called "The Wizard." IIRC, after the show ended, the lead guy (who was also one of the "Time Bandits") committed suicide.

That's the way I remember it too.
