Alias fans, what is the Rambaldi device? (possible spoilers)

I joined into the show alittle late (started with reboot). I have heard it mentioned before in the show and in the season finale thread. Can someone explain to me what this thing does and when it was introduced to the series.

Thanks

No one knows yet exactly what it is, but it is comprised of all the individual artifacts that Sloane has been gathering for years (and the whole series run of Alias). Individually, the components have various effects, such as containing a deadly virus, the formula for zero point energy, the ability to reverse aging, and the ability to make people burst into flame. Together, who knows what they can do?

Since Sydney has ended up 2 years in the future, some have speculated it is a time machine. Personally, I hope it's something better than that - it seems too easy. It is called "Il Dire" - The Telling - that will probably offer some clue to what it does.

Keep in mind she might have ended up 2 years in the future..this might be yet another Sloane/Irina red herring..[which is what i'm hoping..]

The Rambaldi device is used to add an extra thin layer of ice on the rink in between periods.

So basically...all they'd need to do to counteract its effects is to get a zamboni?

Yes - it's a zamboni in disguise.

Seriously, I've got no idea - tons of people on my forum have speculated (sd-1.com), but no one knows...

Does anyone think that it's something that can be determined from the sum of its parts? Or is it something completely unrelated to RoboHeart + FireStarter + ________ = ?

I don't think that had anything to do with Rambaldi, but the work of a scientist who also used the device to turn himself into evil Christian Slater.
