with about 2 episodes left the 1st season on ST: TNG? I am watching the entire run from start to end, and I never got into the show until about season 4. What was the reason for her leaving the show? Contract dispute? Creative differences? Left to pursue other career options?

I could be wrong, but I think it was the last reason. And we see how good that turned out

Denise Crosby wanted out of her contract and I believed it upset a lot of studio executives. This was on the first season of TNG.
Since then She stared in pet Cemetery 2 I believe. After that movie, I believed she apologized and was able to do some guest spots afterward.

I hated her character. When the above happened, I cheered!

Dammit, Jim, she's Bing Crosby's grand-daughter, not some two-bit scream queen. She's too good to do silly weekly sci-fi shows.

She basically didn't like the way her character was developing (or not developing) and asked GR to let her out of her contract.

Glad she was let out of her contract. I hated her character. I didn't like the arrogance and know-it-all attitude that she portrayed.

I hated that stupid Deanna Troi character (and her stupider mother) a lot more. Too bad she wasn't the one to go.

Pretty wild that Denise Crosby was initially supposed to play Troi and Mirina Sirtis was supposed to play Yar.

She posed for Playboy in, I think, 1979. The only reason she got a pictorial was because of she was related to Bing Crosby.

Playboy then re-ran the pictures in the late 80s after she was on TNG. I think it was around the time that she quit.

I wonder what Denise Crosby is doing now? They say that hindsight is 20/20 and IMO it was not a smart move on her part to be released from her contract it didn't do her acting career any good at all.

Her last 5 years haven't been Spectacular...

Apparently, when they wrote the part, it was simply going to be "Woman at Bus Stop," but she added so much to the character that the director just let her run with it. "Keep the camera on Denise," he said. "This is magic."
