:jawdrop:

i'm speechless. i don't know what to say. did anyone else think that when she woke up in that ally that this whole season had been a dream? because didn't she end up unconscious in an ally in china in the first episode of this season or somethin? i'm really eager to find out how this is gonna be explained. this show never ceases to surprise me though, i'll give it that.

movieking 05-04-03 10:07 PM

Interesting episode. I was thinking that the machine was either a machine that could tell the future, or a time machine. Irina had a line about Sidney being able to follow her free will, which made me think it was some sort of forecasting machine (as did the name, The Telling).

If it is some kind of time machine, Sid could eventually go back in time to the point where she went missing. I kind of hope that this is not the case, since it is pretty hokey. I would rather have her go forth from the point where she is now, which is two years in the future.

At least someone seemed to keep Sidney well cared for, since she didn't lose any weight, her hair didn't grown, and she appeared pretty much the same as when she passed out (except for the clothing and her battle scars were healed). That could seem consistent with time travel, I guess, but as I said, I am hoping that she was just kept locked up and drugged for a couple of years...

SiberianLlama 05-04-03 10:08 PM

I totally thought it was going to be a dream when she woke up and I vowed that if it was, I would stop watching the show. What actually happened is infinitely weirder and more interesting, and I'm kind of in shock so I have no idea how I feel about it.

movieking 05-04-03 10:10 PM

I was thinking that it might have been a dream at the end as well. I was waiting for the director to say that he didn't know who she was, or something Twilight-Zonish like that.

I agree that it was pretty stupid for Fake Francie to keep those meds in a fairly easy hiding place.

B.A. 05-04-03 10:10 PM

Holy Crap! What a terrible thing to do to us! How many months do we have to wait for a new episode?!?!

Finally! That fight between Syd and the evil fem-bot was sweet! I didn't think it was slow at all - I glad they took their time with it and dragged it out. They beat the hell out of each other.
Spoiler:
At least Robo-Francie is finally kaput - took them long enough to figure it out. Will still didn't know when he was looking at the picture of the young girl. Hello? put the clues together...

I still can't believe that ending. So does this mean we are done w/ the Vaughn/Syd romance angle? at least for a while? Hopefully.
Spoiler:
I can't believe Will is still alive...

This was one hell of a season finale - plenty of twists and turns, truths and un-truths.

_tony_ 05-04-03 10:12 PM

at least the pills weren't right there when he opened the medicine cabinet. he did have to do some snooping in bags n stuff.

My first thought was that it was a dream - either this season or both of them...

kevin75 05-04-03 10:14 PM

Spoiler:
vaughn evidently has quit the CIA because he said, "they brought me back". the fact that he had a ring on his finger is kinda odd too. if he cares about syd as much as we think he does, i would think that he would spend all of the CIA's resources trying to find her. also, 2 years isn't much time to get over the dissappearance of your girlfriend and get married

_tony_ 05-04-03 10:15 PM

to be honest though, if it had been a dream then she would have still been with SD-6. it would have been pre-raid/reboot episode, and god knows ABC wouldn't of let that happen.

yeah, me too. somehow though, before they revealed where syd was, i knew that she was in hong kong or somewhere in the far east. i wonder if that has any signifigance?

SiberianLlama 05-04-03 10:17 PM

Good point Kevin75.

Spoiler:
Maybe this is some elaborate plot on Sloan's part to totally screw with Sydney's mind? I mean what if they could rebuild the lab and make more doubles? It would be easy to make one of Vaughn, and this whole thing could be bogus

I have no idea

I know, but that is what went through my head for a sec, but then she checked out her scars and the thought passed. As soon as Kendall asked her if she remembered how to get to the safe house, I was thinking, "how much time has passed since the brawl?".

This show throws in so many twists/turns you never know what to expect...

movieking 05-04-03 10:18 PM

When Will was almost retrieved during the trip to his new holding place, it was the absolute horrible acting when the truck flipped over and he hit his head. It seemed like he actually did it on purpose instead of having it done from the force of the turnover, and his wimpish "Ow!" just didn't seem to fit. For some reason, this really jumped out at me. Did anyone else notice this, or just me?

I can't believe that Will is still alive either. I was hoping that he was dead. Since Vaughn is married, I guess that we might see the Sid/Will romance after all (if Will isn't married or attached anyway).

I wonder if Marshall and the new chick are hooked up two years hence?

And Kendall still has the same job two years from now? Sheesh!

All in all, good episode, and definitely leaves me waiting for the next season to start...

I thought the whole scene to extract Will from the bus was fairly poorly done, too. I noticed how he hit his head and I was thinking the bus was moving pretty fast and just rolled onto its side - I don't think he would just hit his head and say "ow".

kevin75 05-04-03 10:21 PM

i am also wondering what jack will say about all of this?

I disagree. In times of stress or depression it would be possible to find someone quickly and maybe not fall in love but definitely believe you needed them. Vaughn has always seemed kind of needy to me, so I can believe him getting married less than two yrs after her disappearance.

I look forward to next season so that all of this can be explained. Should be interesting...

SiberianLlama 05-04-03 10:23 PM

Who's to say Jack is even still alive? ;)

smokedragon 05-04-03 10:24 PM

Spoiler:
Didn't Vaughn say something about Will after he said he was okay?

I thought from the inference that Syd had brought Will back to life.

Or, maybe I was in too much shock.

Have to give it to them, they got me coming back to watch the series.

lwhy? 05-04-03 10:28 PM

Whoa! I have only seen maybe eight or nine episodes this season. I started watching during the Superbowl episode. This finale really confused me. There are endless possibilites as to what happened. We now have a loooong time to speculate.

interesting point. however, since we haven't heard anything about victor garber leaving, they would have lots of 'splainin to do on that one.

RolloTomasi 05-04-03 10:29 PM

Wow...

Ok, here are some more cogent thoughts.

Has any other show ever been rebooted twice? In the same season? Because this Time Warp changes everything.

Vaughn's not with the CIA anymore.
Will was almost dead... he's probably moved up in the ranks of the CIA by now to that Senior Analyst position.
Sloane... what the hell is he up to? (Read below)
Irina is probably working against Sloane, if she's still alive.
And now Sydney does not even have the semblance of a normal life at all.

Some wild speculation for next season:

Irina said the person spoken of in the prophecy was Sydney, not her. IIRC, Sydney can't be Prophecy Girl because Rambaldi said the PG would never look at some mountain, and Sydney did do that - Rambaldi has never been wrong up to this point.

But if Sydney is Prophecy Girl, then the prophecy might make more sense.

Rambaldi said PG would render a great power under to utter desolation, or something to that effect. I thought they were referring to the US, as I think everyone else assumed.

But then Sloane got the Apocalypse Scroll from Kwai Chang Kane, and assembled the Rambaldi Device... which we still have no idea what it does. (What was that Black Sphere from Season 1? Did we ever find out what it did?)

Anyone else think that the world-changing event happened in these past two years? Perhaps Sloane used the Rambaldi Device, and it now a "great power..."

Which means Irina was right, and Sydney is the only one who can stop him.

MrX 05-04-03 10:35 PM

I thought it was pretty good.

I'm going to reserve judgement on the ending until I see how this plays out. Right now I really don't know what to think. I don't think this ending was as good as last year's was.

kevin75 05-04-03 10:38 PM

actually, i think that this season's ending opens up a whole lot more possibilities at least.

_tony_ 05-04-03 10:42 PM

the more i think about it the more i like how this played out. there are just so many possibilities on how this can unfold. its really gonna have alot of us thinking about and anticipating next season. last season's finale was really good but it was pretty predictable. i saw the whole her mom being the man angle comin a mile away, but this year the finale totally blindsided me.

Colonel Mustard 05-04-03 10:53 PM

I'm just glad to see that they apparently have an unlimited supply of blue Ford Focus SVTs, both in the US and in Europe. Their badges are so telegenic, especially in close ups...

As for the episode, it was interesting, but not as good as the reboot earlier on after the Super Bowl. I'm not disappointed, just wondering where they'll go like most here seem to be.
