Rob has a shot, especially in a one-on-one with Heidi. This is exactly what I said Rob needed to do to win after last week's show. I said he needed to go back to Heidi and Jenna and bring at least one of them along.
Everyone gets pissed at backstabbing but when they end up voting at the end unless there is a real personal grudge, they vote for the better player. I think Jenna gave up immunity because she took Rob's comment to heart - that she is not well-liked. She already knew they had the votes so why not portray compassion to the jury members. Oh and Christy - killer comment at the end.:thumbsup: |
Originally posted by atlantamoi Okay, why did Jenna give her immunity to Heidi? I haven't sat down and thought it over and over, but I don't understand. Last night there were going to be votes thrown to her OR Heidi. Why'd she take any chance of getting the boot? BTW, who exactly would be the Patron Saint of Reward Challenges, if not Matt? |

What's so immoral or unethical about stripping for peanut butter? Girls gotta eat, don't they? :D

Actually I was thinking the giving away of immunity could be very smart in this game. Suppose you knew that everyone was going to vote for Person X. So at the last minute, you give that person immunity. But since everyone is already there ready to vote, they can't talk about a PLan B to switchtheir vote and you might have people all voting for different people in an unorganized way. Of course,it could back-fire and YOU get voted out.
At this point, if I was in the rest of the tribe I would concentrate on voting out either Jenna or Heidi. Their strong alliance of two needs to be broken up somehow. |

Red Dog, I think the final 4 spoiler I posted earlier was the boot order of the 4 people kicked off before the Final 2, so I guess there`s a good chance the Final 2 are :

mcbg - you're on my ignore list so I don't see your posts. I ask that the rest of you please do not quote him either as a courtesy since quoted text does show up. |
Actually, I would not be surprised to see Rob gets the boot next week if Butch gets a clue and votes with the evil stepsisters to boot out Rob.

The evil stepsisters would have to be moronic to vote out Rob now. Neither of them would have a chance in a final vs Butch or Matt. |

I think the person who made the big mistake this week was Christy. First, she waffled on her alliance, by getting haughty and telling Rob she may switch on him. Then in Tribal Council, she says, "Hey, I'm the one in power."
Rob is one of the best strategists in Survivor yet, but he's prone to run a bit scared sometimes. When Christy waffled, he changed his plans, plain and simple. If Christy had been smart and kept her mouth shut, she'd still be in the game and Jenna or Heidi would be out. |

After the immunity challenge, I was sure that Rob was going to get voted off. Even went as far as to set my alarm clock to get up early to make sure I caught the entire Howard Stern Show (you just know Rob is a Howard Stern fan will show up for that). But Christy's comments at the end make it all worthwhile.

I think that if Rob makes it to the final two he will UNDOUBTABLY win. I'm not sure why anyone thinks he doesn't have a chance.
What you're doing is ignoring the fact that this man brilliantly plays everyone. Everybody likes him enough that they are willing to trust him when they KNOW they shouldn't. Obviously, there are parts of this show that are being edited out. Rob must be a very congenial guy. That taken with the fact that I think many of the people honestly believe he is talented at the game will get him the win. When people sit on the voting council they seem to think about A) whether they like the guy and B) whether the guy deserves to win. I think in both of these situations Rob can beat out anyone. Take a moment and think about how much you like him. I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about him in these boards. Everyone says that he's playing the game amazing. Everyone points out how funny he is. He is just a damn cool guy. If he can make it to the final two -- he can win. |
The only thing good I can say about Rob is that he shakes things up, but it doesn't mean I like the guy. He should never sing in public. He has made this season of Survivor very unpredictable, but by no means has he endeared himself to the jury, and that is the social aspect of the game that he'd truly blundered in in his zealous efforts to make it to the final two.
Rob is this season's Clay (from Thailand) in terms of likeability/patsy (but Rob has been ultra-pro-active about it). |
I can't comment on whether I like Rob as a person or not, but I will say that I hope he wins and I admire the way he plays the game. I respect the "anything it takes to win" strategy. Like Heidi said last night, "This isn't real life, it's a game."

Personally I don't see how Rob is playing a smart game. He's shaking up alliances and switching sides every week, but it really hasn't gotten him any further than if he just stuck with his original alliance. The only reason alliances don't work is because people like him screw them over. He had a tight alliance with Heidi/Jenna/Alex last week that would have guaranteed them all the final 4. Instead he switches sides and joins an alliance that guarantees him/Matt/Butch/Christy go to the final 4. Now he's back on the other side with him/Matt/Jenna/Heidi going to the final 4 (unless they take butch instead of Matt or something). In any case, he's really no better off than he was with any of the other alliances and hasn't really accomplished anything except potentially pissing everyone off.

Unless he won 2 straight ICs after the Final 4 was set, he had zero chance to make it to the final under the previous alliance. Alex made that very clear. Now he actually has a chance and he doesn't have to win ICs to get there. Rob has played it perfectly the last 2 weeks IMO. |
But you could make the same claim for anyone that wasn't booted off to this point. Rob's just had to work a lot harder to get where he's at. :D
