Did not need to see Matt in the speedo!

Neitzl 05-01-03 08:12 PM

Spoiler:

Even though her fate was sealed before the Tribal Council, Christie was stupid for saying "I feel as if I control this vote." Right there, I knew she was out. And I really liked her! Dang! Jenna and Heidi need to go fast, Rob is playing great, they really are just doing whatever he says, and when he outplays them, they throw a hissy fit. ARGH!
Matt changing his vote did shock me though.
Christie's last words were great. I wonder what else she said.

Spoiler:
She probably started signing like crazy, and have to be takened away and put in a strait-jacket before she could be sued for sign-slander(?)

Hehe...

OldDude 05-01-03 08:17 PM

I missed about the first 20 minutes. Could someone summarize reward challenge and immediate aftermath? I came in as Matt and his mom were arriving at a private dinner for two by boat. And everybody else seemed drunk.

Patman 05-01-03 08:20 PM

Actually here's why the vote went as it happened (IMHO):

Spoiler:
Every single contestant left wants Rob to be standing next to them at the final vote, so Rob has a great chance to make it THAT far, but that's as far as he'll get.

Christy is far too sympathetic (she'd beat anyone you put up against her), so that's why when she would not play ball with Rob, he went to a highly advantageous plan B, and convinced Matt that that was the right move, and it is playing out well for Rob to finish in second at best.

So all the others are pretty diabolical as well.

Oh, we did get to see a first: Someone giving up immunity for someone else. Didn't expect that at all either.

atlantamoi 05-01-03 08:22 PM

Great season. The last 4 council meetings were shockers to the people voted out.

Patman 05-01-03 08:28 PM

First 20 minutes:

Spoiler:
Jenna and Heidi were really pissed about getting stabbed in the back by Rob, and let him have it.

It rained really hard, and Matt tried to get the tribe to make modifications to their overhead cover to ward off the rain. I think they were somewhat successful.

Reward challenge:

Everyone had to dig up an oar to row a boat out to some buoys that had a part which might let them get to a bag of puzzle pieces. The first person to get the right part that would allow them to get the bag and then solve the puzzle (of a snake) would win reward. Matt blew away everyone.

Jeff offered Matt a chance to give up his reward so that the others could spend some time (like 10 minutes) with their loved ones (following the philosophy of "it's better to give than receive"). Matt gave it up, and everyone had a good time, and they were fed and given wine (which was taken back to camp). After that was finished Jeff said that since Matt gave up his reward, Jeff would give Matt a night to spend with his mom, so they were boated to a nice spot that had food for them, and then some tribal dancing by 4 guys and 4 topless women.

Back at camp, everyone got drunk as a skunk. Butch passed out. Rob was puking, and showed off his speedo (ick!).

I think that was about it.

I'm guessing that's why there were acting like complete bitches last week when they thought they had things wrapped up, because they have morals and ethics. Perhaps these two skanks meant "molars and edifices."

Spoiler:
Christy got what she deserved however. Why would she play around with the ONE survivor who has proven time and again that he is a complete snake? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

VinVega 05-01-03 09:35 PM

Rob has absolutely zero chance of winning the game.

This might be the first unanimous vote yet for a winner at the last tribal council. Pretty shocking.

I'd have to disagree.

Remember, most of us thought Richard Hatch would only get one or two votes at best. Turns out, the voters preferred a player who was upfront about wanting to win vs. an emotional player.

It's obvious that Robb is really in a zone now and controlls some people's emotions as he sees fit. I give him a great chance of beating either Heidi or Jenna on the Jury. If he's up against Butch or Matt, he'd better pull a rabbit out of his butt if he wants even a remote chance.

WOW, only 2 shows left. How sad. This has been one hell of a season! Easily my favorite post-merge Survivor in recent memory.

Jenna almost moved me to tears with her comment about how she has had to play the game twice as hard as the others because of how "beautiful" she is.

I disagree. Rob has played the game of Survivor better than anyone before him, except perhaps Richard Hatch. Rob obviously has done his homework, understands the game well, and knows how to manipulate it to stay alive. While he may heve angered people along the way, so did Hatch. Not many thought Hatch would win, but he did. Thus, if Rob manages to make the final two, I think he will win too.

Remember, some of the jurors will have been out of the game for quite a while when they vote for the sole survivor. Most likely, they get to see the key events of the game's progression. Thus, even though they may have hated Rob when they got booted, once they have been out of the game a while reason will prevail over emotion. Looking back objectively, they will see how well Rob has played the game and reward that.

I think the real problem for Rob is getting to the final two since so many people *currently* in the game have reason to dislike/distrust him and may want to get rid of him soon.

Skorp 05-02-03 01:22 AM

I really can't believe that Rob flipped again! Amazing!

Granted, Christy made a major mistake by waffling on her vote. But if you had told me last week (after Alex's boot) that Rob & Matt would join Heidi & Jenna to vote her off, I would'nt've believed it. Hell, I just saw it happen and I still don't believe it!

Since the merge, this season has really rocked! 4 of the last 5 bootees (Roger, Deena, Alex, & Christy) have been completely sandbagged by the vote. (Only Dave saw it coming.) And Rob has been behind all of their evictions.

With that track record, I don't see how he could ever hope to get enough jury votes to win. But, if nothing else, he has almost single-handedly made this season the ride that it is.

ChefWinduAZ 05-02-03 01:37 AM

Jenna is a complete dumbass. By giving up the immunity to Heidi she now has two votes against her and will probably be leaving next week. And the it ain't easy being this beautiful speech cost both of them any chance of getting the winning votes from the panel. Wouldn't it be a hoot if Butch won this thing?!

SergeantPinback 05-02-03 02:42 AM

And speaking of topless women....

Anyone else think it's a double standard to show native women dancing topless, but block out Heidi and Jenna when they took their clothes off...?

Previous votes aren't the tie breaker any more. They haven't done that since season three, I believe.

shanester 05-02-03 06:13 AM

Why didn`t MATT vot For Christy??..I thaught they had an alliance

Boy was she ever pissed..She was write about the evil step sisters they don`t deserve to win they`re both cry babies!!

OldDude 05-02-03 07:16 AM

I thought Butch was the 2nd vote for Jenna? I was wondering why he was clueless, since he made some comment about the "importance of the alliance." I figure he is out of it and gone next week (unless he lucks out and wins immunity), leavingthe "young crowd" as the final four.

Patman 05-02-03 07:19 AM

Butch is out of the loop, obviously.

Struz 05-02-03 07:24 AM

I was shocked at the vote last night !

Obviously, Rob & Matt were together but they didn't include Butch.

Rob must realize his best chance is against Heidi or Jenna.
He has no shot against Butch, Christie or Matt.

If Matt wins immunity next week, Butch better watch out.

I really wanted Jenna & Heidi to go. I don't want either one in the final 2. They've done literally nothing the entire time except be in the majority. It would be another Vecepia win.

As much as everyone dislikes Rob, he has played the game well and deserves to be in the final 2.

Tribal council has been very surprising lately.

:)

Joeboo835 05-02-03 07:29 AM

I have to agree that Rob has no shot. There's a big difference between playing the game by manipulating people and just being an a$$. If someone plays me for a fool, thats fine, but if they talk about it after, thats different.

Case in point, when christy got voted off and Jeff Probst said something like "Christy came here thinking she was in control" they show Rob and Heidi shaking there heads and laughing.

That said, I think if its Heidi and Rob at the end, Rob has a good shot. But if its him and anyone else, there's no way he'll win it.

Then again, I underestimate the power of editing.

Patman 05-02-03 07:54 AM

For a split second, I was wondering if Jenna was really smart enough to keep on portraying herself to a real selfish/self-involved PITA to everybody remaining, enough to justify keeping HER around as the person to next to in the final vote. I think Jenna's a lot more wiley than Heidi.

Christy's problem was that she was very unsophisticated/immature in terms of keeping her cards close to her vest. She didn't realize what she needed to tell Rob to make him think that she was totally with him. She totally got complacent, just like Alex.

Not necessarily. We never saw Robb telling Matt to vote for Christy, yet we're reasonably sure that happened. My theory is that Matt told Butch about the Christy vote, but Butch wouldn't do it, thus winning him "style" points.

atlantamoi 05-02-03 08:09 AM

I laugh every time I hear the evil step-sisters talk about their beauty. Jenna is not ugly, but I don't quite get the way they view themselves.

Okay, why did Jenna give her immunity to Heidi? I haven't sat down and thought it over and over, but I don't understand. Last night there were going to be votes thrown to her OR Heidi. Why'd she take any chance of getting the boot?
