Spike? Sounds more like a network aimed specifically at morons. Besides, TNN already is the Spike Network. Meaning I'd rather hammer a spike into my head than watch their black bar/picture distorting/pop-up hell/playschool logo/stupid slogan/pathetic excuse for a channel.

The NEW SPIKE

In addition to the pop-ups and the black bar/logo, they really need to get rid of those annoying answering machine messages of viewer feedback.

I think we all have an idea what their new programming lineup will consist of.

A real life version of DOA: Beach Volleyball would be a nice addition to the program lineup.

Good Call. But they've been phasing them out i think. I havn't heard one in a couple of weeks.

We all need to email this thread to the chimps over at TNN. I'm they have no idea how bad they suck.

So women get Lifetime, Oxygen, and the Women's Network and we get Spike?! what the heck is that? Do they think that all guys are blubering idiots?

"Hey dude whatcha want to do?"
"uh, I dunno. what do you wanna do?"
"I dunno. [flips through channels] Hey what's this? a network called Spike cool!"
"Yeah, and it even has a conveniant black bar on the bottom that says whats on so when I'm drunk off my A$$ beating my kids I know what's on."

Ugh....The only thing I really watch on their is CSI since I only started watching this season. Actually I just happened to catch the pilot episode and that got me hooked. But it really pisses me off that they are so inconsistent with their programing that they throw such a great liscence around and push it back.

I almost watch Lifetime more than TNN..........
.......
.......
.......hey they have Unsolved Mysteries! It's cool.

I'm hoping their new logo will be a dog collar.

To me, they're still "TNNY from the block."

If all TV shows were filmed and shown in widescreen, I wouldn't mind them showing what was on at the bottom. I actually prefer to see widescreen versions of movies over full screen movies. Unlike a widescreen presentation, the black bar IS covering picture during full screen shows/movies.

Don't think so here -- I believe TNN "squishes" the picture to fit the bottom bar. That's why everyone on shows like ST:TNG look oddly fatter.

really? I didn't know that. Why in the world would they think it was a good idea to but a stupid black bar on the bottom. I can barely stand it when stations constantly have to have a logo in the corner.

It was probably that stupid guy from the CSI commercials.

Well, then they must have started squishing them after I stopped watching the channel.

I'm fairly certain that they have always "squished" the picture to make room for the bar.

There was a brief time when the bar was first introduced where it simply covered part of the frame. They squished the picture a month or two later, if I remember the complaint threads around here correctly. I've never watched the station itself.

I was thinking it was this guy.

The world run by Spike Jonez.. with 70s-fashioned rap-rock, people travelling through a tunnel in their own head, badasses tap dancing and flying their way around, and stuff that is consciously writting itself as it goes. I'm all for it.

Oh and singing gum, can't forget singing gum.

I still thought TNN was Nashville Network, I guess changing it to Spike WILL help clarify it a little bit. Though it seems like a hopeless gasp for that last breath.

The only way I'd watch them again is if they brought back The Dukes of Hazzard re-runs.

During that time, while them bumpkins was trying to git the hang of that new-fangled black-bar thyngie, there would be a brief moment when the program resumed after commercial and the bar was missing. Then the bar was inserted and you could see the pic squish.

I mean, any good ole boy knows that you don’t want no black bar covering up part of yore picture.

Well, I mainly watch WWE on Mondays. No black bar until about 11:00pm..letting us all know CSI is next at11:05....when in reality, it is about 11:08 or so.

BTW... this had me rolling!

Funny chit!

You got to remember that this is a Viacom-owned network. Look at how MTV has millions of pop-ups just to remind you of the station you're watching.

With that said, I expect Spike TV to be more of the same intelligience insulting crap that we get now. Why do we need a male network? We already have numerous Sports networks.

I started watching the new TNN when the cable channel started airing Miami Vice. But all of a sudden those black bars pop up with the name of the show you are watching!! And what's also annoying is that the black bars squashes the picture horribly!! I tried the cable channel again when they started airing CSI. But I couldn't take it.

Now this Spike TV thing. I can't wait to see what the new logo is going to look like. It will probably large and very distracting. As if TNN's new colorful logo wasn't enough!
