Trading Spaces Goes Hollywood!

Andy Dick invades Trading Spaces!

I've been watching the show for a couple of years now and after last nights double feature of celebrity shows I had to check out what the hardcore fans of the show were saying. I did a quick google search for Trading Spaces messages boards and had a good laugh.

For the uniformed, the first episode featured Andy Dick & Sara Rue from Less Than Perfect. If you didn't see the episode beware, some of the followin comments may be considered spoilers.

I personally had a blast watching Andy avoid work and basically live up to the name Dick. Ty, normally the funny guy, was in way over his head when he tried to get Andy to assist on a carpentry project. How many times do you think Andy saidMy personal favorite was Andy's cat drawing which degenerated into drawings of cats pooing and finally into just drawings of poo. Very funny indeed. Ultimately the best thing in the room he, his ex-girlfriend (HOT by the way) and Gen did was the large painting of Andy's face. I liked how Andy described the room as all ugly gray with poo brown trim.

A quick trip to the message boards shows that the majority of the viewers who post there were shocked, dumbfounded, disturbed, angry or insulted by Andy Dick's behavior. I don't know the make-up of the show's audiance, but I can only picture a bunch of 55 year old ladies in the midwest utterly disgusted by Andy Dick. That just makes it even funnier.

The show after the Dick episode had 2 guys from Seventh Heavan (I won't bother to look up their names) and the masses on the message boards thought they were "really cute" but had "terrible potty-mouths". The were bleeped a few times but I didn't notice any excessive cursing. One poster went so far as to suggest they get their mouths washed out with Lux soap. Not any soap mind you. Lux soap. Sorry, Granny. Next episode we'll try not to have any cussing!

Jessica Biel, by the way, is SMOKIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed the whole "Hollywood" deal. Its fun to watch the show when you know who the people are. Hope they do it again.

Andy seemed to feel genuinely stoked at his place though and seemed to feel a little bad that Sarah hated hers.
BUT when he said "I feel I owe you money" Sarah should have said "You do! Pay up bitch!"

It doesn't surprise me that the "hardcore" viewers were nitpicky, thats what hardcore viewer are all about.

I generally dislike Andy Dick, so I didn't like his appearance, but seriously, if he had applied himself, that room wouldn't have looked any better! Ugly.

I really enjoyed the 7th Heaven episode, the two dudes were pretty funny. Did you see there place, looked like my college dorm (well I wasn't that messy), that rocked.

Yeah, Andy Dick is a pea-brained annoyance. How the hell does he keep getting invited back to the Mansion?

I generally like Andy Dick and thought he was funny but have to agree with you on the room. Yuch.

Regarding how much Andy Dick "applied himself" I have to wonder how much of his slacker routine was done just for the camera. I've perused through the Trading Spaces book while my wife was waiting in line in a couple of stores and some of the stuff we see is well planned out and not spontaneous. For instance they actually have a seamstress who does most of the actual sewing. I'm sure once the camera stops the husband gets up from the sewing machine and the seamstress takes over. Ty & Amy Wyn also have carpentry assistants and the homeowners get help with the homework. Page asks questions she knows the answers to etc. Remember we're watching a well orchestrated TV show so Dick may have worked hard but they played the "I'm gonna take a quick five" routine for comic effect.

I enjoyed the 7th Heaven episode as well but more for Jessica Biel than the guys!
