South Park: 04/09
The 100th episode!
South Park's 100th Episode Episode 701: I'm A Little Bit Country The boys join some anti-war protesters because it’s a free pass out of school for the day. Their simple plan to protest their way out of class goes south when they find themselves in the middle of the two opposing sides of the war issue. Meanwhile, Cartman tries to have a flashback to 1776 to avoid studying for his American History assignment. http://images.southparkstudios.com/i...news/1337a.gif |
This one sounds like it has a lot of potential. I love when they address current events.
|
They are always pretty spot on when addressing current events, I'll give you that.. I'm just hoping they do a little something "special" for thr 100th episode. Like have Tweak go berserk and kill all of them.
|
I hope it's a good one. Usually I find it really annoying when an entire episode is based around a current event and they attempt making some painfully blatant 'message'. But I'll watch anyways....so far the episodes this season have been great, better than last season's IMO.
|
can't wait...this one should be great
|
I got an early peek at this episode yesterday, and it is great. This is the episode co-written by Norman Lear. Keep an ear out for Lear as the voice of Benjamin Franklin.
Cartman's song in 1776 is amazing. Seriously ;) Enjoy the 100th episode! |
I watched last week's episode and noticed Kenny was back. How and when did this happen?

I officially hate Kenny now. I swear the kid behind the hood is not Kenny. He's not even mumbling anymore like he used to... Get the poor orange hooded bastard out of there and put Butters or Tweek in there.
|
"Cartman, you are hereby declared a full-fledged retard...."
|
So far I'm loving this episode.
|
The show's half over and they have already raised the bar for the rest of the season. This my friend is one of the best....rabble rabble!
|
"Yeah, Bush is a nahzee"
I liked the resolution, pretty funny. I really didn't think the whole show was as funny as you guys did. |
God I hate Kenny now. ARGH.
Alright episode.. |
I laughed maybe once. Focusing on a current event as much as they did in this episode just dilutes the comedy, as it always does. There was very little that was funny about it. Cartman saved this otherwise very boring episode.
I changed the channel by the time Benjamin Franklin started yapping at the end. Maybe I shouldn't have....his speech really made me think. What a poignant episode. [/sarcasm] Easily the worst episode of the season so far. |
rabble, rabble, rabble.
Not exactly the laugh-out-loud-100th-episode I was expecting. |
OH come on, the whole thing with Cartman trying to have a flashback was hilarious. Especially the part were he beat up the messenger kid. lol. Tivo with 50 hours of the History Channel. Ha, ha.

Thought the episode was good, not great.
I loved the resolution, but thought the rest leading up to it could have been a bit better. |

meh. Average episode overall, imho
|
Originally posted by ctyner I can't even say that. I've only tuned into two episodes so far this season -- this and last week's -- and I didn't smile, laugh, chuckle...whatever...once. I used to really like the series, but I'd just as soon not bother if this is the best they can muster. |
Here's something I just thought about regarding my problem with South Park:
When Matt and Trey try to take a political stance in their show, it's always much, much better when it's subtle and not obnoxiously in-your-face. In that sense I see South Park using current events is much like The Simpsons using guest celebrity appearances. When The Simpsons writers make a big deal out of a celebrity appearance in an episode and don't make proper use of him/her in a genuinely funny way while building the episode around the celebrity, trying to garner ratings through pandering via use of the celebrity instead of just trying to be damn funny, the show goes to hell. Now replace "The Simpsons" with "South Park", and "celebrity appearance" (and "him/her" with "it") with "current event topic" and you have South Park's biggest problem. |
If you don't like watching South Park then giiiiit out.
|
loved the for and against war protesters.
------ "Your tivo is full." |
I thought the first half was quite great (the protest, the 'trying to have a flashback' and Cartman was awesome "get out of my flashback you goddamn jew") but the last half really dragged and wasn't nearly as funny...
they had a great setup and the payoff wasn't as big or as great as I had hoped...certainly not a terrible episode, just not as good as I was hoping (this season has been decent, but so far nothing has been as good as last season...hopefully there will be another episode of "ladder to heaven" quality very soon) MATT Cartman totally rules. |
The episode was the worst of the season IMO, the first half was alright, but the second part with the big musical number was pretty bad.
I give it a meh! |
I thought it was pretty funny. The part with the protests were great.
|
People who don't find this episode funny should just stop watching SP all together and go to bed earlier 'cause way past your bed time... and of course, get that carrot out of your bung hole.
I thought the it was really funny w/ Cartman kept trying to bring himself into flash back. The TiVO on timer for 60 hours of history channel was hilarious. And all that political low blows at Americans and the Bush Admin, good stuff. |

"Ben Franklin, is that you?"
"No you idiot, it's Kyle" "get out of of my flashback you jew" |
It was an okay episode. I laughed a good bit and then sat there staring at the colors a good bit as well, BUT what I thought was great, and what I always think is great in this show, is Matt and Trey's ability to lampoon a situation and dig out the finite detail that really underscores the real situation.
For example, I sat there, like many oh you, "meh"-ing most of it and chuckling at the funny bits [and I don't care what you say, there are ALWAYS funny bits] but at the end when Ben Franklin launches into his speech concluding how we should be a country who acts one way and says the other was great. In a couple of minutes they summed up the basic political relevence of our country, and here's the kicker, without bashing it. Say what you want but they make us laugh at ourselves, whoever ourselves may be, and even when the episode falls to ass, like it did with that closing number [ugh] there is usuallu wonderful underlying commentary to glean something from. But, hell, I just like jokes about poo and vomit, so........ |
I don't know how to say this without sounding condescending, but I really feel that people who don't get this show just aren't too bright. I guess that's what "reality" tv and shows like Jackass do to people.
This episode was amazing. As always, Trey and Matt are right on. Whether you choose to accept it or not, they just solved for us in 22 mintues what people in the war forum have been bitching about for 22 days. At this time yesterday, I would have never thought anyone could change my mind about those idiot protestors. I was wrong. I would never join them, but I see their purpose now. And it makes sense. Anyway, rabble, rabble... |
I really am starting to wonder what's going on.. I seem to remember almost every episode from season 5 and 6 had me non-stop laughing.
Edit: I just went over an episode list for 5 & 6, and confirmed.. this recent batch of episodes has been sour. |
They do a great job of highlighting both sides in a political debate. Leave to Matt and Trey to make sense out of the whole pro vs anti war debate.
Cartman and the TIVO was hysterical. rotfl |
