The 100th episode!

South Park's 100th Episode
Episode 701: I'm A Little Bit Country
The boys join some anti-war protesters because it’s a free pass out of school for the day. Their simple plan to protest their way out of class goes south when they find themselves in the middle of the two opposing sides of the war issue. Meanwhile, Cartman tries to have a flashback to 1776 to avoid studying for his American History assignment.

This one sounds like it has a lot of potential. I love when they address current events.

PixyJunket 04-09-03 12:35 PM

They are always pretty spot on when addressing current events, I'll give you that.. I'm just hoping they do a little something "special" for thr 100th episode. Like have Tweak go berserk and kill all of them.

tha_dvd_man 04-09-03 01:06 PM

I hope it's a good one. Usually I find it really annoying when an entire episode is based around a current event and they attempt making some painfully blatant 'message'. But I'll watch anyways....so far the episodes this season have been great, better than last season's IMO.

the narrator 04-09-03 01:29 PM

can't wait...this one should be great

Abranut 04-09-03 04:25 PM

I got an early peek at this episode yesterday, and it is great. This is the episode co-written by Norman Lear. Keep an ear out for Lear as the voice of Benjamin Franklin.

Cartman's song in 1776 is amazing. Seriously ;)

Enjoy the 100th episode!

I watched last week's episode and noticed Kenny was back. How and when did this happen?

The ending of the last episode of season 6, he just appeared back. And has done nothing but just stand there all of Season 7.

FuzzyBallz 04-09-03 08:26 PM

I officially hate Kenny now. I swear the kid behind the hood is not Kenny. He's not even mumbling anymore like he used to... Get the poor orange hooded bastard out of there and put Butters or Tweek in there.

"Cartman, you are hereby declared a full-fledged retard...."

spainlinx0 04-09-03 09:12 PM

So far I'm loving this episode.

Mopower 04-09-03 09:13 PM

The show's half over and they have already raised the bar for the rest of the season. This my friend is one of the best....rabble rabble!

tanman 04-09-03 09:29 PM

"Yeah, Bush is a nahzee"

I liked the resolution, pretty funny.

I really didn't think the whole show was as funny as you guys did.

PixyJunket 04-09-03 09:41 PM

God I hate Kenny now. ARGH.

Alright episode..

tha_dvd_man 04-09-03 09:42 PM

I laughed maybe once. Focusing on a current event as much as they did in this episode just dilutes the comedy, as it always does. There was very little that was funny about it. Cartman saved this otherwise very boring episode.

I changed the channel by the time Benjamin Franklin started yapping at the end. Maybe I shouldn't have....his speech really made me think. What a poignant episode. [/sarcasm]

Easily the worst episode of the season so far.

Chew 04-09-03 09:43 PM

rabble, rabble, rabble.

Not exactly the laugh-out-loud-100th-episode I was expecting.

Mopower 04-09-03 09:54 PM

OH come on, the whole thing with Cartman trying to have a flashback was hilarious. Especially the part were he beat up the messenger kid. lol. Tivo with 50 hours of the History Channel. Ha, ha.

Not particularly. :-/

Like I said, Cartman was the only good thing about this episode. Everything else was just blahh.

briank 04-09-03 10:04 PM

Thought the episode was good, not great.
I loved the resolution, but thought the rest leading up to it could have been a bit better.

I can't even say that. I've only tuned into two episodes so far this season -- this and last week's -- and I didn't smile, laugh, chuckle...whatever...once. I used to really like the series, but I'd just as soon not bother if this is the best they can muster.

TheMadMonk 04-09-03 10:10 PM

meh. Average episode overall, imho

I thought last week's episode was okay. I'd say this season's episodes before that one were quite a bit funnier.

Here's something I just thought about regarding my problem with South Park:

When Matt and Trey try to take a political stance in their show, it's always much, much better when it's subtle and not obnoxiously in-your-face. In that sense I see South Park using current events is much like The Simpsons using guest celebrity appearances.

When The Simpsons writers make a big deal out of a celebrity appearance in an episode and don't make proper use of him/her in a genuinely funny way while building the episode around the celebrity, trying to garner ratings through pandering via use of the celebrity instead of just trying to be damn funny, the show goes to hell. Now replace "The Simpsons" with "South Park", and "celebrity appearance" (and "him/her" with "it") with "current event topic" and you have South Park's biggest problem.

spainlinx0 04-09-03 11:06 PM

If you don't like watching South Park then giiiiit out.

conscience 04-09-03 11:12 PM

loved the for and against war protesters.
