Angel - 4/2/03

Yep, the beginning of the show proved it - Conner is the world's biggest tool.

Yep. Honestly, the scenes with Cordy and Connor actually had me saying "Please, make it stop!" If more of these two is what's in store for next season, then cancel away!

Why would Darla care about the death of an innocent? She took enough of those.

I wonder....could it possibly be the First? (Not likely, but it seems that way.)

Connor is beyond redemption IMO. Surely getting some older woman doesn't screw your judgment that bad.

I actually thought he was salvageable.

I thought it was established that while Darla was pregnant w/Conner his innocent soul kind of overtook her body which brought about her sacrifice to bring him into the world....I was thinking that the image of Darla was being used by The Powers That Be to show Conner the path he needed to take.....

well from next week's preview, it looks like
Spoiler:
that they are all deluded or in a trance and do her bidding - except for Fred, who sees what they are really doing for her and it isn't pretty.

I'm thinking they could do a world of good and sacrifice his worthless ass before the end of the season. Maybe he can save Angel's life or something and redeem himself. Lord knows he would be more valuable to the cast if he was dead.

I actually want to see Connor stick around now simply to be a whipping boy. He crossed the line tonight, and I want him to pay.

I say hook Connor and Dawn up. Have them get married and move away far far far away. Next week looks really really messed up.

well, I for one am happy that it seems like the real threat has been exposed and Cordelia can have the mother of all ICK! moments when she realizes what she has done with Conner. While Conner does not get on my nerves nearly as much as some on this forum, it does seem that he has played out his useful function for the show. I would have no problems if season 5 opened up sans Conner.

So...[Not knowing much about the Angelverse before Faith's appearance but sticking around until the end..] i'm really not familiar with the whole Angel/Darla/Connor dynamic..[Just what i've seen during the "Previously On Angel.." recaps..] But...my interpretation of the whole Darla/Connor dialogue was that it was similar to what happened on Buffy between Dawn/Joyce.

Of course, I could be wrong..

Yeah, but that makes everything up to this point in the season seem rather moot IMO. They go through all of this trouble just to
Spoiler:
have their minds zapped and rely on little Fred to save them?
Seems like it craps all over the previous episodes.

About Connor. He could have redeemed himself tonight by listening to his mother, but in the end he proved just as big a liability as Angelus. Even Dawn had better judgment than him on her worst days.

I think how well this plays out is going to rely on exactly why
Spoiler:
Fred isn't subject to the worshipping vibe put out by whatever that thing is. I actually like the idea of an evil character that inspires mindless devotion and worship in everyone--It makes for more of a real threat, and a nice change from the "You can't kill it because it's unkillable!" thing currently going on on Buffy. This thing, whatever it is, is such a huge threat because it's apparently impossible to want to kill it.

Which is why Fred is key--How she becomes immune, and what she does will have huge impact on the quality of the story. If the reasoning sucks ("She's really smart, so she's not fooled!"), it will retroactively taint the season. If the reasoning is sound, things might play out well.

Man I'm going to go back to that other thread and change my vote for most hated character to Conner. He's the only character on tv that makes me want to scream 4 letter words at the screen. I don't see the comparison to him and Dawn. I know alot of people hate her but she's not even close to being as dumb as Conner is.

As far as the rest of the ep
Skip. I always liked him and thought he was funny, to bad they killed him.

Good to see Darla too. Julie Benz

I'm really surprised looking back at this season how focused it is in it's story. The story seems to be trucking along from the beginning without taking many "side tours", or stand-alone eps that don't advance the overall picture. All this from a show whose first season was almost all about stand-alone eps, and didn't have much of an overall picture. This should be a great season for DVD.

Last night's episode was an okay episode, though Connor's thought process rank a room temperature IQ. It's was a little more unsettling to see "Darla" in a new light.

Don't you wish they'd move "Guest star" credits to the end of the show so that we get more surprises as the episode develops?

I dug the slow-mo butt-kicking Angel put on Skip with the chain whip.

So, is Skip really dead or incapacitated? Glad he copped to being in on it from the very start.

good ep.

nice to see darla again..... but have there been any instances of the 'first' on angel? or is it primarily staying on buffy?

Stupid Connor. Well he is officially a murderer now, I can't wait for him to get punished.

Good episode, besides those icky evilcordy/stupidconnor scenes.

Great episode except for the scenes with Connor. A brick could have done better.

Always nice to see Skip especially eating buffalo wings

I don't know what the thing that came out of Cordy is but I can't wait til next week to find out.

Well, technically he didn't kill the girl. Cordy did. He was just an accessory to a human murder.

Is it just me, or was the ending anti-climactic? Cordy gives birth to a shiny octopus thing that turns into ... a thirty-something black woman??

And can someone recap exactly HOW Cordy got taken over by this thing? I had a hard time following the explanation given in the episode.

Connor would likely get the death penalty if he were charged, even though it was evilcordy who did the deed. He hunted the girl, punched her in the face, tied her up, refused to let her go, dragged her into the other room for butchering.....he is guilty.
