Six Feet Under 3/23
Tonight's episode is called Nobody Sleeps.
Looks like I'll have to take an hour-long departure from the Oscars at 8:00.

That looked like one helluva fun party!Good ep tonight. Looks like the funeral really hit home with David.

I am enjoying this season, but not as much as last season... next week's episode like it could be a winner with the return of my favorite character (hey... I always had to watch to see who she would do each week). A lot of funny jokes in this episode, but I didn't appreciate the Prince Albert scene at all.

I really enjoyed this episode. Everyone (cept Nate) getting a little tipsy. The ending with David and Keith was really touching. What was up with Rico and all the questions? That conversation between him and David should be filed under the way too much info category. Next week: the return of Brenda - cool beans.

I thought this was one of the funnier scenes. "Any more questions? Now's the time!" The episode overall was just okay. I was a bit annoyed by the whole "why do you want to be an artist" scenes.

I really like what they are doing with the show this year. It's a very different story right now. More subtle but they are saying an awful lot between the lines. It's almost as if they are daring you to see the point, to identify with it in your own life rather than tell you why any of it matters. The character development, so far, has been without comparison and the theme they are working at is something I've never been shown before in this medium.
Alan Ball is doing amazing things with his carreer. I hope he is always around to show us ourselves from his perspective.

Wow, I'm really confused now, with next weeks preview I'm less ceartin that Nates still on the table or something along those lines as has been my thoughts since the first episode of the season.
One thing I found intersting was the way nate change clothes when he was talking to his dad. I know it was intentional having his dad dressed like nate and nate like his dad but I don't recall dream/dad sequences having characters change clothes... Anyone else notice that and care to comment?

Absolutely fantastic episode. I too loved the clothing switcheroo with dear ol' dad and the innocent "did you change your shirt" conversation to get us to pay attention to it later on.

Nate was bouncing back and forth in dream land with his talk with his dad.
David sobbing in Keith's arms seemed like a real genuine moment.
Ruth had to have something slipped in her drink by Bettina.
Ruth was flying high as a kite.
What was with that scary Oedipus-allusion for Nate seeing Ruth's face in his dreams while hearing his daughter's babbling. That was a big disturbing, but funny. But there's something to that scene in how he sees his new family unit.
Nate is fighting his nature (and whether he is his dad in terms of circumstances and predicament).

That is what I figured too, this and the Listerine smell.

That makes sense with the Listerine thing ... I think it served a double purpose, though, in drawing our attention to his clothing.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up. Ruth said after Nate had talked about the dream he had where he was getting his foot rubbed that, "Do you know studies show that people in your dreams are actually you" or something along those lines (i.e. Nate is having a long dream sequence where everyone seems a bit off from usual).
That line just stood out for me and gives more reason as to this being a whole Nate still on the table thing. Anyone else catch that or am I reading waaaaaay too much into it?

Was the bald artist the same guy who played Charlotte's Jewish love interest in Sex & the City?
I really like him for some reason.
This was a great episode, best one of the season so far for me.
I really like Claire's new artist friend. You can tell just how bad he wants to kiss her, but I'm not sure if she's intersted or not yet. Claire needs a guy who will adore her like thatand treat her well.

The whole shirt/listerine ordeal...
Nate is begining to hide things from Lisa. This is probably how Nate Sr. began to obtain his "alternate" life that Nate found so disturbing, and we see that Nate is indeed following in his father's footsteps (even though he doesn't want to, like his father).

Two things I caught on rewatching the other night:
1) Lisa hands the baby (awake at two a.m. Shame on you Lisa) to Ruth who is dancing with the baby over her head. Big change from the last episode there.
2) Nate is wearing the same clothes at the start of the dream with his dad and when they cut back to him he has changed.
I also got a funny vibe about Ruths comment about this won't be my last birthday when telling claire she could miss the party.
Can't wait for Sunday! HBO
