South Park: 03/19

Thoughts on the episode?

I thought it was okay at best.. the start was funny, remaking the first ep with more profanity "are we in a rerun?!"..

I really dug the whole "Contact? That movie pissed me off.." a real nice "in joke"..

Couple of funny bits, but overall a weak start..

I forget did Kenny die? I wish they didn't bring him back, Butters and Tweek are SOOO much funnier.

I also prefer Butters or Tweak to Kenny. He didn't die this episode. I thought he might explode or something after snorting that alien drug.

There were some hilarious gags tonight. Loved the homage to "Dukes of Hazzard". Cartman farting on Kyle was funny, even after the sixth one. "Come, Kyle. Do hurry."
Good start.

Honk!

Once again the timing of this episode is perfect - lets have more violence everyone!

The farting did go on too long but the spoof of the first episode was great - showing how much more they can get away with now.

I think this will be up for an Emmy. Really great writing, great job by Norman Lear (!). Classic message.

I thought it was a pretty solid episode.. that taco was brilliant. They had some really funny gags tonight...

Kyle: "oh my god, this tastes good!"
Alien: "you must have some jewsian ancestry"
CArtman: "Tell us about it."

aliens: "yeah, suck my jagon"
"I can't believe I sucked your jagon"
"oh god, we did suck each others Jagon's"

some pretty funny stuff

Great homage to The Dukes of Hazzard. I love the aliens car chase pursuit. The Taco pooping ice cream was pretty good too.

Rest of the show was subpar though. Can't hit a home run every time.

He didn't die but when their memories were erased and sent back to Earth Kenny wasn't with them.

Sure he was...he was just out of frame. A couple seconds later he scooted over and produced his polaroid.

I'm sorry, but I thought this episode was brilliant.

Every joke pretty much hit it's target and the last bit was the greatest piece of satire I've ever seen.

Huge South Park fan, but I'm also realistic.

Dude, aside from a few good jokes that episode blew.

This episode was decent, it had some great jokes (Taco that poops ice cream, Jeff Goldblum) and some repeated ones as well (another jab at Contact).

I loved it. Great to have this back on the air. It's wasn't perfect, but it was still damn funny.

I agree with you Slop...one of the smartest half hours of television comedy I've ever seen. I can't believe the flak it's taking here. Amazing that they can be so intelligent, yet slip so many dumb jokes in (the ice cream pooping taco was hysterical).

I didn't read anything about the episode before I watched it, and at first, I thought they might be replaying the first episode ever as a gag (just like they played Asses of Fire instead of revealing Cartman's dad a few years ago). Brilliant setup...great show.

Zinger - huh?

I laughed at every joke. (I'm not bashing, but maybe you just didn't get a lot of the jokes and references.)

I thought the satire was spot-on and some of the most observant and insiteful stuff I've seen on SP, yet.

What about the episode made you feel that it "blew"?

The big nosed Jew-sians that control the media was absolutly classic.

The "repeated" joke was actually a reference to the whole Warner/DVD Commentary controversy.

I agree, this was some of the most brilliant satire I've seen in a long time. Absolutely classic. And could the timing of this episode have been ANY better?

Although I'll admit the best part was in the "dumb joke" category -- the taco. I almost peed myself! And Cartman with that very soft delivery of his, "Ooh, very nice," then that little golf clap.

I also loved how the farting gag was like a comedy lesson 101.
Chef: "Children, that stopped being funny 40 seconds ago. OK, now it's funny again."

Also, in regards to the as-obvious-as-a-slap-in-the-face 100th episode joke -- exactly what episode number was this one?

Wait.

When did South Park start airing on Wednesday nights? I thought this was coming on Thursday.

When is it going to be repeated?

I won't even repeat the great moments you have all listed but I will jump in with support since so many seem to not have enjoyed this. I thought it was one of the greatest episodes they have done. Easily in my top 3. I also base this judgement on my wife sitting in hysterics for a solid half hour, a feat to be sure.

I can't wait for 6 more episodes!!!!

A couple seasons ago, IIRC.

The previous new episode. At the end, Kenny showed up with no explanation. Everyone just said, "Hey, Kenny." And that was that.
