The big brother had potential as a funny character, but I felt that the jokes they gave him seemed rather predictable. The breasts joke when talking to the girl really had me rolling my eyes. Especially his reflective comment afterwards. I was just waiting for him to say it. And the money suit? Someone thought that was funny? The joke I might have laughed the most at, when the brother snaps the bra off, was ruined after seeing it 400 times in the commercials. I may give it one or two more episodes just to see if they can improve, but that's it.

Man, it was just a bad mix of the wonder years and malcom. Just didn't work at all.

It just wasn't funny. I think the mother was the most amusing of the four of them. The writing for the older son was just BAD - great situation but poorly executed. And the Oliver story was just dumb. Terribly weak episode for the pilot, especially after all the hype.

WHY exactly did this need to take place in the past? All of the historical references that were supposed to make it anything but 2003 were rather pasted in. I mean for the pilot they should have attacked something that really could only happen during that time period. Bleech...

"We need to pretend we're something we're not in order to fit into society!" Ha ha. This plot was old when "I Love Lucy" did it.

The promos gave away every part of the program that had a chance to be remotely funny if they hadn't been seen by the tv viewing public 1000 times.

I thought it was better than Malcom in the Middle (but I don't really like that show. It has it's moments, but I stopped watching it in the middle of last season, it just wasn't all that, IMO), but still nothing to make me remember to watch TV at that time. It's on after the Simpsons, and I gave up on that show a long time ago (tho I am interested to see exactly what happens with Homer takes over the plant, so I may try another episode. I try to watch two or three per season to see if it's getting any better. So far no good, though.)

But what is it with these shows that have to take place in another decade? What's the point?? Did somebody get theri sitcom idea shot down years ago, and now they finally got it accepted but decided to add some unseen old man ala Wonder Years to not have to change his scripts or what?

Ditto. The show didn't catch my attention at all last night. I might give it another try.

I thought it sucked! It was like a bad rip off of Wonder Years. I mean can the nararator sound any more like the one from the Wonder Years!

Almost as bad as That 80s Show. And that's pretty damn bad. Was Andy Richter really cancelled for this?

But hey, it's from the network that changed the face of TV comedy forever with The Simpsons, Married With Children and Malcom In The Middle! It must be good!

I never ever saw one commercial for the show...
I didn't even know it existed till 2 minutes before it came on...

...and I ended up thinking it was funny.

Perhaps I was unfazed by hype.

Did anyone check the credits to see who the narrator WAS? It sounded to me like David "Mr. Show" Cross. Anyone?

Cross was on the Daily Show just last week and he didn't even mention the gig. Even he must be ashamed of it!

Did Daniel Stern ever promote the fact that he was the voice of Kevin Arnold on Wonder Years? Not a heck of a lot (if at all), IIRC.

WoW! I'm surprised of all the Beene bashing going on here.

I thought this show was funny - I liked the big fat guy with man-breasts

I laughed a lot - and it's better than anything else on at the same time.

The Dad was funny, and the nerds in the game room - (fast foward to "Billy Gates" working at Rat Shack "Would you like the extended service plan")

Come on - That was funny

Yeah, it was pretty good. I just didn't understand why the network felt we needed a sit com set in the 50's narrated by some unseen older version of the kid actor. What is the point? Trying to capture 50's nostolgia? That's so 80s. But regardless, I would like to see a few more episodes before I pass judgment. I gave Malcom in the Middle many, many chances before I decided to stop watching it, tho there are excellent moments in that series as well. I just hate that Oliver Beene is on after the craptastic Simpsons. I usually forget to turn my TV on at 7:30 to watch anything.
