Run of the mill episode

Im sorry but the whole; slap, "You saw me." At that school when a student was vanishing was damn funny. Along with Anya confronting Andrew in the can about just doing what normal people do.

The episode was a complete filler until the final ascent to the May 20, series finale. The comedy did help though.

Patman 02-26-03 10:13 AM

"Why can't you just masturbate?" LOL!

Interesting the difference of opinions on this episode.

I will be siding with those who liked it; in fact, I loved it. I thought it was wonderfully offbeat and entertaining. I also loved how they addressed classic "fan" issues in their typical way. Andrew asks why vamps show up on video ... subject is strangely changed. Andrew complains about Buffy's speeches. It was like a fan watching the show. In a way, it reminded me of the Babylon 5 episode 'A View from the Gallery'.

I appreciate when a show takes chances and tries to give us something a little different from time to time. It doesn't always work, but I always appreciate the effort. In this case, I think it even worked.

I loved it when Andrew started talking about how long winded Buffy's speeches get. Glad to see the creators can make fun of themselves. I thought it was a pretty good episode. Plenty of funny moments.

Finally, anyone else think that it would have really been somewhat of a barrier breaker had Buffy actually killed Andrew? True, it would have made Buffy less sympathetic, but logic would dictate that she start taking whatever approach will bring her victory and to do that some people who may not deserve death will die.
Well, we've seen two recent examples where Buffy took the other harder road of sticking with her morality/humanity - when she decided to free Spike from the chip and when she refused to become more like the original Slayer. Killing Andrew would have been contradictory. Of course if she has no choice and there's only seconds before the Apocalypse she might - like when she first killed Angel.

It might make sense if you read that spoiler.

Spoiler:
I'm guessing the Angel/Faith story will last about that long

Patman 02-26-03 11:30 AM

Sob, but it's still 3 weeks of repeats! I guess I'll be watching American Idol in real time (if possible).

I'm looking at it as 3 weeks of Faith on that other show

Okay, I'm feeling 5x5 about it now... :D

Good episode, I thought.

the footage of Andrew was new but it was intercut with footage of Willow from last season.

Dr. DVD 02-26-03 12:13 PM

Wonder if we will get any scenes of Faith dissing Andrew and perhaps kicking his arse on general principle?

I think a lot of people are assuming it is going to be the same, old Faith. I'm willing to bet her character is going to be more than a little different after a couple of years in the big house.

Patman 02-26-03 12:47 PM

Tell me Faith wasn't someone else beeyotch while in prison!!!

Wizdar 02-26-03 02:09 PM

So, the piglet is still running around in the basement, huh?

She might be hanging around with Willow then?

more likely Queen Latifah.

What really sucks is that after this one month break until the March 25th episode, there is another month long break till April 22 episode. After that there are new episodes until the end of the season. On Angel, however, we get 10 new episodes in a row starting next week.

Wizdar 02-26-03 03:22 PM

I'm not understanding this type of schedule at all...

WTF, over?

It's a shame that the scheduling turns into such a momentum killer for the show.

No sir, I don't like it.

See, that did nothing but irritate me. Yes, Jane, Buffy's speeches do suck. If I know this, and you know this, why have we had to sit through them every freaking episode?

But then, the episode did a lot to lose me when they expected the audience to be entertained by an exploding student. Was supposed it supposed to be funny because he was a geek? Was it supposed to be funny because, unlike the sensititve psychic poet whose death was a major weep-fest, he didn't have many lines? And why was Buffy quipping about some poor kid's dying?

yet another reason complete season box sets are a beautiful thing.

nny 02-26-03 04:02 PM

A lot of people complain about reruns, but just like every other show, the only make 22 episodes a year. Would you rather have 2 weeks between every new episode or 4-6 weeks of new episodes and then 4-6 weeks of reruns? I prefer the latter. Sure, those 2 months without new Angels earlier this season sucked, but it was still only half as long as the gap between the season 3 cliffhanger and the season 4 opener.
