Kingpin Finale
Okay, in my opinion, what a bust. It was good, I guess I was just thinking that it was going to be more than it was. They also left it open. Makes me think that they will keep doing the show. We will see I guess.

If Chato had a pair of pliers...
...he could join Marsellus Wallace's outfit.
A BLOWTORCH!! Yikes.
Sorry to see Hector go down. I liked the big fellow.
I love the way everyone in Miguel's crew calls him by his first name. He runs a cool organization.
I also love the whole nightclub scene. The fear that Yoba's character showed, (giving up his cookies), and finally overcame in order to do the bust. That was very realistic and I liked it very much.
I hope we see more.

The one thing that kind of surprised me, and I like the way they made a twist out of it in the end, was I was waiting for Miguel to take out his uncle, I think that's how they're related. I liked how they had him take out the seantor in the end.
Are we to assume that the Tijuana Cartel or the senator made the attempted hit on Miguel? I don't think that was ever explained.

Lomo (in charge of the Tijuana Cartel) was working with the Senator. Joaquin showed Miguel the fax of the photo of them together and Miguel said, "Lomo is in bed with the Senator."
I liked the finale but like the others it only left me wanting more. The last I read was that NBC ordered new scripts -- so they're considering it -- but have not yet made a final decision on ordering new episodes.

What was the last scene? Was it where Miguel was helping Chato leave after killing the Police Chief? I was taping it, but the end was cut off.
Also, who was it that stole from the plastic surgeon? He said that he recognized one of the voices. Was it one of the people that he went to to try to sell the stuff earlier? I think it was, but I can't be sure.

As a 'finale', I thought the episode was a bit of a letdown, but it does lead to a very good 'new' start to the series. I am looking forward to seeing this show continue. I especially liked the whole Houston/DEA storyline. My one gripe is that I find it distracting when the dialogue switches to spanish.

The best part of the finale for me was when Junie wanted to become partners w/ the Doc. Those two make the best pair on the show, imo. Absolute hilarity ensues when those two are together.
I was expecting a little more from the finale, too, but I wasn't completely disappointed. I liked how the uncle took out the senator and then the head of the Tijuana cartel got picked by his whore.
I would watch this show, but I don't see them keeping it. Is anyone going to order the dvd, w/ the never seen on tv producer's cut? I think I will pass.

I have to agree with some the posts above. I thought that the finale was sort of a letdown (there were much better episodes than this one). Now don't get me wrong, some scenes were good, but I was expecting more. But then again, they probably left it open "just in case".
I do hope that they continue the series.

"Never go against the family"
I was disappointed in the finale of Kingpin. It reminded me too much of the Godfather the way it looked like Miguel was on the way out but all of a sudden all his enemies are eliminated in one master stroke.

Actually, I didn't treat it like a "finale" but more of "how does Mickey not only save his idiot sexed up brother, but how does he also keep control of his piece of the drug pie and ward off would-be competitors in this literally cut-throat business"? In that respect it was pretty good and very surprising. It proved that blood runs very thick in the Cadenas family.
Would I watch further installments, maybe, but mainly for the 2 other storylines (the plastic surgeon and Junie, and the DEA angle) because it's hard to find anything sympathetic about the setbacks faced by the family of a drug cartel.

As far as the Doc, It was one of the guys he tried to sellthe stuff to in the start.

Maybe if they included a "Elika Crespo Gone Wild" companion DVD I'd consider it. Elika was credited as "Gorgeous Babe" who suckered the general for Mickey to shoot up like a heroin junkie.

One of the two kids who robbed Doctor Klein was the one who was watering the dead plants in front of the trailer when Klein was trying to unload all the coke.
As far as ShopNBC's ridiculous pricing on the mini-series, it's been reported that the set will be released to other retailers later this year so expect much better prices. This is like paying MSRP.

Cigar Chica Unbound would entice me to buy the set.

Not too thrilled with the final episode. I think it was more a symptom of the overall problem with the series and that is it should have been a full 13 epiosode series (ie a NORMAL one) but instead a lot was compressed down into 6 episodes. What I like about good TV is that they often can take time with character arcs and here everything felt rushed.
The biggest tradegy of this last episode was that it just ended, no realy sense of closure to the threads they started or even a solid foundation for the series if they pick it up in the future.
Too bad this wasn't an HBO series, would have been much better

What's Benben's Cigar dream girl's name, I wonder?

I have to say that I was expecting a little more from the "finale" so to speak, but I'm glad they left things a little wide open. Now it's up to NBC to pick up this show for an entire season and then we'll see how good they can make it.
Drawing out the storyline would definitely make the show more interesting. Fleshing out all the different characters (i.e. Lupita, Chato, Joaquin, Junie, etc.) could definitely take a while.
Did anyone else notice that one of the two kids who ripped off the Doc was one of the stoners in the movie "Super Troopers"?

Here's to hoping that NBC orders up a season's worth of episodes.
