Is this show a comedy or what? I ask that because it's damn funny in spots.

Junie is hilarious. When the former Eddie Winslow said he was his enforcer I thought it was funny. I couldn't believe he's really a bada$$ hitman.

Was anyone else waiting for Miquel to say"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse"? The whole setup and scene with the dog at the end was alot like the producers horse in The Godfather.

This show is growing on me. The only bad part about it is Miquel is the lead and probably the least interesting of any of the characters.

"You wont be laughing if I turn him loose on your ASS!"

Its off to a pretty good start. Although the whole psychic son/ voodoo aunt subplot could get old really quick.

"Well, now, Miguel, you're being unreasonable. The first thing I want to do when I see a Chinese guy is rub his head!"

Arias is the main reason to watch this show. I also kinda like the DEA agent who wants some action. Cute women w/ guns...

Is anybody else half expecting a quick cut to a clip of Leave It To Beaver whenever Benben is onscreen? What in the bloody blue blazes is he doing on this show?

Does anybody else see a kind of resemblance between the DEA chick and Jill Hennessey (aka Crossing Jordan).

I pretty much stopped watching after the pilot, so I didn't watch it, but I give it a quick chance before getting bored and changing channels.

I did noticed Evil Asian Dentist from "Alias" made an appearence tonight. That's always odd, seeing a person from one show on another...

I agree. His father is the head of a major drug cartel, his mother comes off as more ruthless then the father and he seems like a kid who would get the crap beat out of him in school.

I forget to mention my favorite scene was Chato checking out the guns and at the same time talking about his cat and admitting he's a cat person

Liked it enough to stay with the next 3 episodes......not a bad attempt by NBC.

It's disappointing that this great show isn't going to be picked up as a regular series. I just hope the rumors about a DVD release are true.

Saw it for the first time tonight. It's not bad but I'm not sure if I would continue watching based on that. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that great either.

But what is Lupita's relationship to Miguel? Are they cousins or something or ex-lovers?

So the little obsession she seems to have over Miguel is normal then.

In terms of attitude/personality, yes; not such much physically.

From what I've read. I hope I'm wrong though.

Lupita is Tio Jorge's oldest daughter. Tio was in charge but Chato killed him on the boat in Episode 1. She says in Episode 2, "You were supposed to take care of my father," and "I am my father's first born." That would make Lupita and Miguel cousins. When she said, "You will come back to me, Miguel," in Episode 3, I believe she was just referring to the business. Maybe her father took Lupita's visions seriously and didn't cut her off the way Miguel does. She didn't mean come back to her romantically.

I thought she was the daughter of the Don that was killed but I get the impression he raised Miguel and Chato and that the Tio thing was a less literal use of "Uncle". I got less of an impression they were cousins than more like step-siblings.

I could co-sign on the cousin affiliation. Otherwise, she'd probable be dead anyway with all that voodoo crap she keeps trying to pawn on Mickey.

I think being step siblings is more interesting anyway, even if its not right. I called quite a few of my fathers friends "Tio" growing up. They werent all my uncles. It would explain the "Come back to me" line. I could also see the Don grooming Miguel for his daughter, particularly in contrast to Chato. How does Miguel end up so clean cut, educated and so forth and Chato ends up the blue collar hitman? Granted all this is coming from that one line of Lupitas and a single flashback of Tio Jorge with Miguel as a child. But where is their father? No mention of him at all?

Yancey Arias .... as the star of the show...Miguel Cadena was on an ep of ......."Sopranos" (1999) playing "Arnaz" in episode: "46 Long" (episode # 1.2) 17 January 1999.

this one was just on this sunday night too.
it was funny to see this because he was one of the young punks who were forced to carjack a car on that ep.

The Brian Benben plot needs to go....I see how eventually it'll tie to Eddie Winslow and then back to Miguel's peeps, but it just seems to be taking up screen time right now.

I agree w/ OldDude - In regards to their attitude and demeanor -yes they are similar, but physically - NO. Jill Hennessey is much, much sexier.

Junie is great. Benben is okay, but Junie is the only real redeeming part of that subplot - anyone who can act like his grandma's little angel, then go off three guys while using his skateboard is simply amazing. Great, great character.

Chato is the other character on this show that I really like, too. I am just glad to see Bobby Cannavale(sp?) back on tv. I was always made he left Third Watch, because he was definitely one of the better characters.

So I guess Junie's not a Narc afterall...

I'm enjoying this show quite a bit. I'm not quite sure where they're going with Lupita and the voodoo stuff, but I hope they don't make too big a deal out of it.

Does anyone else think that Lupita might have conspired with Don-what's-his-name to steal Miguel's coke just to get under his skin? Just a thought.
