Buffy Faith Spinoff Mulled
Didn't know if this was old news or not...sorry if it's a repost.
From Scifi.com:
Christopher Buchanan—president of Mutant Enemy, the production company behind UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer—told SCI FI Wire that producers are considering a spinoff starring Eliza Dushku as the renegade Slayer Faith, but that no deals have been signed yet. "I believe that's something that's being bounced around, along with other things, too," Buchanan said in an interview.
Dushku is currently shooting guest spots on Buffy and its spinoff series, The WB's Angel. Fan Web sites have carried rumors recently that Dushku had signed to star in a spinoff, with some rumors suggesting the contract was for two years. Buchanan said that he was unaware of any such deal. "Certainly, because she's around doing Buffy and Angel, I know there've been discussions," Buchanan said. But, he added, "We're kind of sitting on our hands until UPN and Fox figure out what they want to do."
Though Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar has made no official announcements yet, it's expected that she won't sign up for more Buffy once her contract expires at the end of the current seventh season. Speculation has centered on whether UPN will renew the series without Gellar or seek a spinoff.
I would love to see this happen. With Buffy ending this season (and rightfully so), I think Eliza Dushku could really carry a new series well. As long as there's no Michelle Trachtenberg, I'm happy.

I never was that interested in Faith. I would probably watch the show since I love Buffy (the show, not the character) so much, but I doubt it could come close to what Whedon achieved with BTVS.

Faith
I don't see a reason why she wouldn't want to do this unless she has a desire to keep having supporting roles in bad movies.
I've heard rumors of Spike and Xander and maybe Willow on board for a spinoff and others with no one from Buffy joining the cast.

Glad to see I'm not the only Faithphile around here.
I watch the Buffy reruns on FX for the sole purpose of seeing Eliza. If this rumor comes true, the show *will* surpass Seinfeld as my all-time fave. Sorry Jerry.

SMG openly complained about not being paid enough for BTVS. I heard one person ask if it was just not a lot based on Friends standards and she said it flat out was terrible by any standards. I've always wondered if that was true or not.
Buffy needs to end. Most people seem to agree on that. I think, if salary is a big issue then it's no surprise that SMG has to move on, even if they wanted to go on. She makes more for Scooby-Doo and the yearly or bi-yearly sequals of that crapola than she could on Buffy. She's stuck with being Buffy for life, so why not add Daphne? And she can make the big money making bad movies with her husband for years to come.
I just think the money and time has to be better than SMG claims she gets for Eliza to want to commit. I don't agree that she wouldn't be able to make good money doing film only. But she's young and may want to take a chance on a series to boost her up higher than she is. Especially if it's part of the Whedon franchise.
Emma Caulfield took a chance with a starring role in a small-budget horror film and it did well for her. She's gonna be a hot property in my opinion.
Alyson Hannigan has said she wanted to stay with Buffy. I wonder how much of Willow is actually in her 'cause she seems really loyal. I think she could easily cache her tv success into some good film roles too. Never a big star, but more money than tv but she seems to be happy with tv and a movie or so a year. She's basically the star (with Jason Biggs) of the 3rd American Pie film.
Nicholas better hope for anything he can get. I like him, but he's gonna be one lucky camper (geez, that's what Xander would say) if he gets to play that one role for the rest of his life.
Why do so many people dislike Michelle? She never wrote one of her lines. I would bet my left nut that she'll be a tv and/or movie star and not disappear at all if Buffy ends. She shows no sign of growing out of the cute stage into one of those cute kids who get ugly. In fact, she's gonna be hot. And that alone will keep her in demand. Maybe you all will like her a bit more when she's not Dawn, although Dawn has totally grown on me.
A Faith show sounds good as long as it's not a carry over from Buffy. A whole new show, maybe Alyson just cause I love her. Damn you, Wesley for stealing my woman!

I think it would be cool if Faith stayed on as the slayer, and left Xander and Spike on the show. They could add a new woman cast member as well to take Willow's place, because I would still love to see her go to Angel....so they could get rid of Fred...sorry just not into her or Gunn.

I was hoping there had been new news.
A few weeks ago it was announced that they were in negotiations with Dushku.
I think this is the only way that I would watch a contination of Buffy.
Although who was behind the scenes would make a big difference on wether it is good or not.
In all reality though, they should call it a day. I just really think they should quit while they are ahead.
I dont want them to pull an X-files.

I realize true Buffy fans might find my viewing habits fairly obnoxious in that I reduce what they consider the best drama on TV to a cheap way to get my Eliza fix. (I mentioned this in Other's UNPOPULAR OPINIONS thread.) It's just that she's so damn good at pulling off the "cleavage-y slutbomb" role.

But wasn't she also in Season 4? And on "Angel"?
Anyways, I will seriously think about buying S3. I also liked the Mayor. Favorite scene: "Become invincible" on his To Do List, sandwiched between such mundane tasks as "PTA meeting" and "Get haircut."
