Does Cartoon Network censor their toons?

Someone told me something to that effect. I was wondering if it was true. I would assume that its these japanese super cartoons where blood, language and gore is edited out. Is this true? Is it only for daytime programming or adult swim as well? I don't watch either, so try to give specific examples.

If you don't watch either, why would it matter anyhow?

Cartoon network tones down the violence or sexuality of all it's programing.

Dragon Ball Z is edited and a lot is cut out. Cowboy bebop was toned down and the blood was removed. So yes, it effects both Adult swim and day time programing. Never heard of anime called "Japanese super cartoons"

I like that phrase. I got to get home and watch some Japanese Super Cartoons. It's part of Comedy Centrals Super Fun Happy Donkey Donkey Donkey, Donkey Donkey, Donkey Hour.

I'm just waiting for them to start playing Battle of The Planets/G-Force again.

According to robotech.com, they will be editing one of the episodes during Giant Robot Week. I wonder which one it will be...

Battle of the Planets, yes. G-Force, no. Couldn't stand that droning music in the background all the time.

Hopefully, Rhino will release some more volumes of BOTP on DVD one of these days.

I guess it's a trade off: annoying G-Force music or annoying 7-Zark-7?

Cartoon Network, even though it's on cable, is still a "network". And unfortunately they have people to answer to ( advertisers, Turner Broadcasting, censors, the FCC, etc.). I've read that they don't edit the content themselves, they can "ask" for certain cuts to be made and the studio will try as best they can to accomadate them.

Alot of people will say they want these programs to air uncut and unedited. Well that's a little much to ask for. Considering all it would take is one "concerned parent" to call Sen. Joe Lieberman to put the brakes on alot of the programming a CN. That's why we can all be thankful for DVD.
